Well we had our first session of CGC class last night. I was in a hurry and forgot the water bowl and treats (the most important items)! We were late and everyone was waiting for us. I thought to myself oh great this is not a good start. Zoey has had some previous training. She graduated from the puppy and basic obedience classes at Petsmart. She did well but I don't keep up with it day to day very well. Before going into CGC I knew what we needed to work on. Although we had already MASTERED sit, stay, and down; we needed a lot of help with loose leash walking and jumping up on people. We started out with some difficulty and I was getting frusterated. I think Zoey picked up on that. I thought we were doomed as we watched the other dogs sit politely and calmly for the examiner. I got her a drink (from another pugs bowl) and stole some treats (from another pugs mom) and hoped for the best as we went up for our second try. When we got up to the instructor I looked down at Zoey and said "this is your time to shine" and gave a nervous smile to Sharon (instructor). I then gave Zoey the "sit" command. She sat. Sharon then leaned down and started to pet her. Zoey stayed in her sit!! I looked down and she was starring at me with such a proud look on her face. She knew I doubted that she would cooperate and was loving every second of prooving me wrong. She did everything perfect the rest of the class and I was so relieved and proud of her. We will go back next week prepared and confident.
