Scupper the ever gracious host
WorkAugust 12th 2005 11:33 pm[ Leave A Comment ] So, I have a very important job. Because I have no opposable thumbs, my mom has to drive me to work and wait there all day for me. I work at a daycare/boutique/grooming facility called Lexidog and Angela Jacobs Dog Salon. I can't even to begin to tell you how hard I work, but I'll try and give you a glimpse into my life. In the morning, dogs come in to daycare. My job is to stick my nose under the gate and make sure I know who they are before they go on back. I have to greet their parents and tell them to have a good day even though they don't get to stay and play. Customers come in and I do my best to make them feel welcome. I try on outfits for them when they're trying to figure out sizing. I've even been known to try on a dress or two (what good retail salespuppy wouldn't?) People often come in from out of town and I let them hold me and pet me so they can get their dose of puppy love while they're away from home. I work with other store doggies, Maggie, Lilah, Ella and of course Lexi. She's the head honcho, but she's really a great boss. She even relinquishes primo nap spots when I need a break from all the petting and love I get. My mom just started working as a full time groomer so now I often spend my days monitoring her. She does a pretty good job, but I add my input where needed. Even when I'm finally done at work and have my mom drive me home, my day still isn't over. I graciously open up my home to dogs less fortunate who don't have a full staff of drivers and caterers. Many of these dogs have had rough starts so I teach them about sharing and proper couch-lounging etiquette. In addition to these transitional dogs, I also run a small B&B for dogs who's waitstaff are on vacation. I entertain them, accompany them on neighborhood outings and even let them sleep in my bed. While I love my busy schedule and social events, I also revel in those days when I have my mom and my home all to myself. I'm happiest when I'm busy bouncing around from lap to lap like when my mom has visitors. When my grandma and aunties are in town, I jump from bed to bed checking on everyone and making sure they're safe and snug. Wow, I'm exhausted just telling you about my busy life. I may be little (a hefty 3.5lbs) but I'm all dog. Come on in and see me most weekdays in the Pearl!
