Leave a bone for Tucker

Nicknames: Teaser, Zooms, Little Man, Littlest One, Tucky, Tennessee Tucker, Angelface Dollylamb

Quick Bio:
Likes: Riding in the car, snacks, racing around the yard, napping, Mom and Dad, burrowing under the covers, kissing, speaking. Also is intrigued by his Aunt Netta, who refers to him as her Colorado boyfriend.

Pet-Peeves: Constant stimulation, not being allowed to chew on the cat, not eating whatever Mom and Dad are eating, inclement weather, when Mom and Dad hug without him

Favorite Toy: LOVES huge bones with some peanut butter in them. Otherwise, he has the attention span of a gnat and gets bored with toys very easily.

Favorite Food: It's shorter to mention the foods he doesn't like: lettuce and shrimp.

Favorite Walk: Anywhere, as long as the weather's nice!

Arrival Story: We got Tucker fron a girl who raises mini doxies for 4H to earn money for college. We had done some research about dachshunds, but had NO IDEA that we were getting a dog as stubborn as we are.

Bio: Tucker is the most amazing dog on the planet. He's also the "minimal effort dog" - when we ask him to speak, he starts with a little tiny growl to see if he can get away with not expending much energy. He's a typical 3 year old - when we tell him that it's time for night-night, he races into another room to get a toy to take, then he needs a drink of water, and just a few more minutes of playing...

Did I mention that I simply love the summer? Mom came home from work and we went for a walk, and when we got back to our cul-de-sac, my friend Whiskers (who's also a mini-doxie) was out in his yard, and we played... and played... and played...
But the people-types kept laughing. Whiskers' dad would call him and crouch down, and I'd run towards him. This is what the people-types don't understand: yes, I KNOW that my name is Tucker and not Whiskers. However, when someone's crouching down to receive a mini-doxie, I know better than to turn down the opportunity to get some lovin'; of COURSE I'm gonna haul over to them! Duh...

Hip hip hooray (I don't get why people say that)! It's summer, which means that Mom's home more! She kind of freaked me out today, though. She came home from work, played with me for a while, and then left to play gawlf. I don't know what gawlf is, or why she leaves to do it - after all, when I get upset, that's the noise I make: "Gawwwwwwlf! Gawwwwwwlf!" Why she has to leave the house to do that, I don't know; I can stand in the kitchen and do it just fine. Mom just needs to understand that in the summer, while I might enjoy sleeping more than usual, she needs to be here in case I feel like doing something. Last summer it got really hot, and Mom would try to walk me during the day. I showed her that I was tired by lying down in yards we passed. Mom was kind of embarrassed having to carry me home, but when I say I'm done, then I'm done.
And now I'm going to bed. It's not easy looking cute all day - it's actually rather tiring. Do you want to hear how exhausting my days are? I need 10 hours of sleep every night so I can wake up with Mom and Dad and stay up until Mom makes the bed 20 minutes later - then I REALLY need my post-breakfast, pre-couchtime nap. When Mom's done getting ready, she gets me out of bed and we go outside. Then I run back inside and take a nap on the couch. Sometimes there's some variety - I might go down to the basement and sleep. Mom gets home around noon, we go outside, and then I have to take a snooze. I sleep until Dad gets home around 6 (I get up to keep an eye on things if Mom's in the kitchen), and then, watch out! I am in party mode for nearly 45 minutes! Then it's time for the pre-night-night nap. I tell you what, it's darn difficult being me.

Would someone please explain my parents to me (preferably using small words and treats generously interspersed)? Mommy spent a long time cutting up all sorts of meats and cheeses, and usually that means BIG SNACKS FOR TUCKER!!! But then she and Daddy loaded up the car and took all the food away. When they came home, they were talking about how full they were. That's super-unfair, especially since Mommy has officially put me on a diet, so I'm eating kibble that's just not quite as tasty as what I've grown accustomed to.
If you happen to understand people, please let me know.
