Arrival Story:
It was a Thursday night and we were channel surfing. There was a show on the local PBS channel, "Wisconsin Paw & Beak." The owner of H.O.P.E. Safehouse in Racine, WI had Lucky on the show and we fell in love with his big tongue and smile. That Saturday we drove to the shelter for an appointment to visit with Lucky. As we walked in, we didn't realize that it was Lucky that was being taken out for a walk, but that dog had licked my hand as he walked by. When he came back in, we crouched down to meet him and he went back and forth between us. He was sitting down backing into each of us, getting whatever attention he could, and had us hooked in no time. On Sunday we were approved and on Monday we were able to take him home with us.

Lucky was a rescue dog from H.O.P.E. Safehouse in Racine, WI. He spent about the first year and a half of his life in an outdoor wire kennel with his brother, sister, and some puppies. When the rescue organization found him, he had some medical problems that needed attention. Lucky has a dustmite/red cedar allergy that had been manageable with shots and lotions and baths. Lucky now has a dermatologist in Illinois that he sees to help with his allergies and is being managed with the single protein Wellness Venison formula (although eating cheese is soooo hard with out sharing). As well as being on TV, Lucky has been a local star of the radio and newsprint.
