My Mommadog out of Hospital!

Dear Friends!

It is with much joy that I can report to you that my Momma came home today from the hospital. She is pretty beat up still, and has a lot of pain, but she is happy to be alive.

We both want to thank you so much for your love, your support and your prayers. Me Momma almost died, and we both feel that the prayers from all our friends gave her the will to keep going. That, and the powerful love that we have for one another. I don't think I could make it without my Mommy, and I don't think she could make it without me. We have a powerful connection.

I have once again donned me "Nurse Rachet " uniform to take care of her, since she came home. She has a big metal back brace that runs from her pelvis to her neck. It holds her back completely straight. She has a break in her back in her lower #12 Lumbar.

For those of you who don't know the story....my Momma was returning a rental car and had stopped to fill up with gas before she took it back to the airport. It was around 10 PM, she was very tired, and it was very dark. She is still not sure what happened but she thought she was entering the freeway, and that it was a straight on enter. Instead it curved in a cloverleaf. It was vawy dark and she ran the car right into a revene.....it turned over 4 times head over heel, and landed on it's top. Her friend Jade who was following her said the car looked like a pancake. I was at my Auntie Jade's cause Momma and I were going to stay with her and her pups that night so Momma could pick up her car at the mechanics the following day. Auntie Jade said that my little carrying bag that Momma always takes me in was pulled out of the back of the car. Auntie Jade took it home, and the next day when she looked at it she started sobbing. My whole little baggy was full of shattered glass, grass and dirt. I am sure I would not have made it through this accident. God is good my friends.

I am going to end now....with saying thank you for all your prayers, your hospital greeting card e-mails, the white kitty who looks just like my kwazy kitty.....the ballons and the flowers. To think that only 2 weeks ago my Momma had this terrible accident to her coming home today is nothing short of a miracle. We love you, and we thank you for your prayers.

I will continue to keep you posted on my Momma's progress.

We have been away too long!

Well, it seems like forever since we have posted on Dogster and I miss my friends terribly.

We sure have had alot going on around here.....aside from the fact that Mommadog has been working non stop at her second job. They finally hired a new person and she hopefully will be getting her weekends back, and maybe even Friday's. I am so happy, as I hardly ever get to see her anymore. I really miss her.

Then on top of this she is getting audited by the nasty IRS people. Momma say's they have "no sense of humor" at all. Said she would rather have bamboo shoved under her fingernails. EEK that sounds horrible....so it must really be bad.

Then at the beginning of November, Mommadog lost her best friend Mary. This was a woman who was like her very own sister. They were in the same business, and spoke on the phone every single day. Momma could hardly even speak for 3 days......she cried nearly 24/7. It has been a huge loss for her. I miss my Auntie Mary too.....she loved me very much and always held me and loved on me when the three of us went out to lunch together. I will miss going out to lunch with my Auntie Mary so much. I loved her....and still can't believe she is gone. She was a wonderful woman....worked full time, and every Thursday night went to the homeless shelter and feed the homeless. She was even working on Thursday night before she died on Sunday. She wasn't feeling well, but thought she was coming down with the flu. Instead she had blood clots in her lungs and died on the way to the hospital. Momma and I will miss her terribly.

Poor Mommadog

Well, once again I have had to put on my Nurse Rachet uniform to take care of me Mommadog. I guess it is the least I can do since she took such good care of me during my knee surgery. She was wonderful to me, and was at my woof and call!

Poor Mommadog has the most horrible case of the flu ever. She has been in bed for almost a week now, and still feels terrible. She did have a 102 degree temperature, but that has come down. Mostly she just has body aches and NO energy. If she even gets up to go to the bathroom she is exhausted. She worried since she just starting new job....but as she say's "you can't do what you can't do." All she can do is sleep and snuggle with me. So glad Puparoni's can't catch this flu stuff hoomans get....otherwise she would have infected me for sure by now.....and me too little to be this sick....I would never make it.

Well, I better go and she if she needs anything else.

Love,

Fernie Marie

Our Big Yellowstone "Adventure" (If you wanna call it that!)

What a week we had! Mommadog will refer to it forever as "the road trip from hell, that in all her 18 years of travel she has never had a worse one!"

Where do I even begin??? We left last Sunday for Yellowstone Park. This is about an 11 hour drive from Denver. As usual, Mommadog is later leaving then she wanted too. (I swear that woman will be late for her own funeral!!)

Anyhow, by the time we get into the mountains of Wyoming, it starts snowing, sleeting, raining and fogging. My poor Mommadog can't see at night even on a good day, so this was just horrible for her. So finally at 2:00 AM we pull over into the parking lot of a motel, and got into the back of the van (it is a conversion van so the seat in the back is a bench seat and it is like a sofa bed.) We slept until 6:00 AM when it started to get light, and started out again. We still had another 4 hour drive. I was still vawy sleepy so I snuggled down in my blankie on her lap, and off we go.

We get to the RV park that we are going to stay at in Yellowstone, Mommadog takes a quick shower, and off we go to work. We worked until 8:30 that night, and then we had to get up again at 6 AM to start all over again. The park is huge, and it takes 11 hours to drive the distance around the whole park. We have 7 stores that we work in thru out the park. They are spread out far apart....and it takes about a day to work in each store. You have to deal with traffic stopping in the middle of the road to see wildlife and sit sit sit and wait forever. Me saw many, many wildlife. Big Big Buffalos........Big Horn Sheeps, Antelopes, White Tailed Deer, A Mamma Bear and her twin babies!

The best one, was early one morning Mommadog opened the door to the shower house at the RVpark that we were staying at, and right in front of the door was a Papa Buffalo, a Momma Buffalo, and a little baby Buffalo about the size of Baby Charlie and also light color the same as Baby Charlie!!!! Mommadog could not believe her eyes. She was less than a foot away. She quickly shut the door to the bath house, and waited for a minute......then she slowly opened the door again, and they had moved on down the RV park further, so she quick ran to the van. I was still sleeping under the blankies so I didn't even know all this excitement was going on! She waited till they were way down the road before she took me out for a morning pee pee. When I did see them I barked, barked, barked me little head off at them to let them know they belonged in the woods, and not in the RV park that me and my Mommadog were staying! I guess I scwaked them bad, cause they walked on away....albeit vawy slowly!

The weather never got any better all week long. It was raining most everyday, and it was freezing cold. Me and Mommadog nearly froze to death sleeping in that Van. In our business we are know as "Independent Reps" This means we work on straight comission, none of our expenses are paid. So with the price of motels and gasoline these days......staying in the Van is necessary. Gas was $4.20 cents a gallon in the park, and it cost Mommadog over $120 to fill up this gas eating pig.

To say the least this trip was a challenge for both of us. But at least we had each other and that is always what makes it work for us. I love my Mommadog so much, and I would never have let her gone through this week without me by her side. I would do anything in the whole wide world for her. We got home late last night, and we were so happy to sleep in our own bed that we didn't know what to do. We thank G*D for watching over us. The starter on our car was sounding vawy funny all week on the trip. We went out this morning, and the car would not turn over and start at all. We feel blessed that we made it home.
