Wow, I turned 9 y/o yesterday yet I still feel and act like a puppy. I have a younger Labbie sibling (Lucy) that helps me stay young and a Mommy who is very strict w/ my diet to keep me healthy. I am a very happy Lab. It was more than 2 years ago that I had left knee surgery (TPLO) and I'm fully healed. I can run and swim w/the best of them and often outswim my younger sibling. If you or any other doggie you know is getting, or comtemplating TPLO or any other knee surgery, please don't hesitate to pup mail me. Mommy and I love to give advice to our fellow dogsters about the procedure.
In celebration of my bday, Mommy put a couple slideshows on my dogster page. Please check it out when you get the chance. Also, check out Lucy's slideshows on her page; dogster id 445953 (she has adorable puppy pictures that would make your Mommies say AAAAWWWWW). Stay young and healthy pup pals.
Wow, it's been a long time since my TPLO surgery. It typically only takes 2 months post op to start rehabilitation; consisting of gradual leashed walks. Well, it's almost 7 months later and I'm finally cleared to start rehab. Mommy was so excited for me yet she was crying. She hugged me and said, "These are tears of joy! I love you so much Jerry". Oh, Mommy is so silly.
This means that I no longer have to be confined in a pen and I can go on walks everyday! Mom and Dad are going to celebrate and take me to the beach for my first walk since February! I can't run free yet for another 2 more months. Yet I'm just grateful to go on walks w/ my Mommy. She's been missing our walks together. Wish me luck dogsters as I start rehab!
Well, on Saturday, I got Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy to my left knee. Apparently the ligament between my femur and tibia tore. I've been limping for a while now...b/c without that ligament intact, my femur (thigh bone) would slide on my tibia(shin bone). I'm on madatory rest and confinement to a pen in the family room. I can only go outside to go potty...and I always have to be on a leash!
I was super groggy the night of my surgery and wouldn't drink a lick of water. The second day of my surgery was much better; I ate, drank and even put weight on my left hind leg! I haven't done that in 2 months :)
I gave my Mom a scare this morning. I was really lethargic Monday night up until this morning. I didn't go pee for 29 hours!!! Well, Mommy called the vet and we went to the clinic pronto. Low and behold, right when we got there, I decided to empty a gallon of urine on the front lawn of the vet office :) Mommy just laughed and said, "You silly dog...you just wanted to get out of house, eh?". LOL.
I can't wait for the day that I can be off leash and go run outside. I'll keep my dogster pals updated on my progress. Woof!
