Playing with Fae, the roommate's dog; going outside, especially when the weather is cool. He gets sooo frisky!! Play kill the baby.
Grooming: cleaning his eye socket, brushing, bathing. Everything's a big hassle when he has his full coat.
The Baby: any stuffed toy he happens to be interested in at that moment. As long as he can shake it, hence the killing part.
Popcorn, carrots, cow ears-smoked of course. Loves to get into the cat food and will grab scooby snacks from the litter box if the opportunity presents itself.
Around the neighborhood. Anywhere he goes, he trots...just like a show dog. Prance, prance, prance!
No official tricks...kisses for Mommy--he's a licker! And he can jump pretty high and walk on his hind legs a little bit, but nothing fancy.
Winkie passed away early yesterday morning. When I found him, he was still a little warm. He had had a cough from tracheal collapse, which was being kept at bay with steroids, for over a year. I had noticed the cough was worsening, but was still manageable, until it was too late. He was always such a happy dog and made sure to greet you in the mornings and wouldn't go out until he said hello. Yes, he was stubborn, and usually getting in some kind of trouble, and always humping all the other animals, but he was a great dog with a great personality. He will be missed by all.
Winkie was adopted from Citizens for Animal Protection. I was told he and a littermate came in together, he with a missing eye and the other with a leg that had been broken, but not properly set. They believed there to be abuse in the former home. Sometimes, I'll go to the shelter and visit with the animals, give them treats and a little loving. I saw Winkie one time, and told myself if he was there in one week, I would adopt him. They were really glad when I came the following week. I was told it's hard to place handicapped animals.
Winkie may be missing an eye, but he makes up for it with the other one! He's got an eagle eye! It also makes him a little more aggressive with strangers. Once he knows you though, he will love you to death! He always sits by my feet when I'm studying and loves to give me kisses. I know he misses Ciara, but he has the best playtime with Fae, the roommate's dog in College Station.
Live for love!
