It's been a great summer. It hasn't been hot, so I've really enjoyed being outside this year. Dad worked on his pond and I keep all the birds out of it when I can. He also put in a patio in back of the house. It has LOTS of shade and I've been laying there most of the time while he's been working outside.
I check out my fishies at least once and day, to make sure they are okay. Mom is back to work after her surgery, so she doesn't need me to keep her company anymore. Although, I miss laying beside her and keeping her company.

Well, mom has been pretty busy this year. Her mom hasn't been the best of health, so she has been taking care of her. Plus, she had to have surgery herself. That's why she hasn't updated my page for a while.
Still, now it's spring, and dad has gotten my pond set up already and loaded with four fishes this year. I already spend a lot of my time watching and trying to catch them.
While mom was recooping from her surgery, I was her company. For about 3 weeks, if I wasn't outside checking up on dad and his progress with my pond; I was by mom's bed. She like that, she was able to reach down and pet me and talk to me. Helped keep her from getting bored. So, now, I just have to be careful while she is walking around on her crutches. Dad says she is as graceful as a giraffe with 3 broken legs using crutches. With luck, she'll be able to take me for walks in about a month. Sure can't wait.....

Well, it's been about 2 1/2 months since my cancer surgery, and no lumps yet. Although, mom thought she felt something last week when I was laying on my side. She waited until dad got up so that they both could roll me on my back and completely look me over. BOY! Was I ever in HEAVEN!!! Belly rubs by both of my pawrents at the same time. Life is good.

And, well, it wasn't good news and it wasn't bad news. The bad news, is that it was a cancerous lump. The good news, is that mom and dad got me in pretty early, and the vet thinks he got it all out. Only time will tell, and mom and dad said they'll try weekly body searches. Which means, lots of belly rubs......Y-E-S!!!! So, some good can come out of this.

Since then, dad has gotten my pond up and running. Mom manage to catch two BIG goldfishes and put them in my pond for me to watch.
I've been trying to avoid the heat as much as possible. Here in Ohio, you never know what kind of weather you'll have. For most of May and June, all it did was rain; which was really a bummer. Then, comes July, some rain, some heat and some nice, perfect days.
Next month, I'm having surgery to remove a lump that has grown quite big the last couple of months. It has mom worried, because of how fast it has gotten. So, after the surgery, we'll know more. Mom keeps hoping that it's just fatty tumors like one of her old dog had.....she is keeping her fingers crossed!

I don't know why mom hasn't put anything on my page for a while, guess because I haven't been doing anything exciting or going anyway. That's how it is in Ohio during the winter. Not much to really do except lay by dad and watch all the basketball games.
But, spring is finally here and the sun is nice and warm. Soon, dad will be putting some fishy in my pond for me to look out. I get to guard the yard while he and mom do clean up and make some changes in the big pond...AGAIN! Each year, they say the big pond is done, and the next thing you know, they are tearing something apart and making it bigger and better (so they say). This year, they say they are adding a bog to it to help filter the water naturally for the fish. They do spoil all of the animals around. The fish, the wild birds, my cat sister Lissie, my dog brother Duncan and best of all.....ME!

Mom has been telling me that one night, a man in a red suit, name Santa, would be stopping by the house and leaving presents for me. Of course, being the good guard dog that I am, I'm not about to let some strange man in the house without some kind of warning to protect mom and dad.
Then last night, something happened.....mom and dad went to bed, and I was outside of their bedroom door, where I always start my night watch. Suddenly, my eyes got so heavy, I couldn't keep them open and I slept so soundly, a firecracker couldn't wake me up.
In the morning, mom and dad said come see what Santa left me for Christmas! WHAT! How did that happen???? How did he manage to get past me???
While I can't figure that out, I can tell you, mom was right! He left me lots of nice chewy treats and rawhide chews in a stocking. Mom and dad got me an aquarium, with a couple of fishies in it to watch as a present. They know how much I love my fishies outside, and since I don't play with toys, they thought this would be a perfect gift.

BOY! Did I have fun today with mom and dad! They both got up early, fixed a breakfast and gave me a piece of bacon from it. Then, the big surprise....we went to Dawes Arboretum for a nice long walk. If you are ever in central Ohio, you and your parents have to check this cool place out.
Dawes Arboretum is a place that a family set aside for trees and plants to be grown and enjoyed. They have a Japanese Garden, a Cypress Garden, a place to watch birds and different trails to hike. Some famous people have planted trees for a dedication. One of the family members was even the Vice President of the United States! Here's the link to it:
http://www.dawesarb.org/
Anyway, the only bad thing is that dogs do have to be on leashes, cause I could have a field day there AROOO!!!! I tried to chase a chipmunk, a squirrel ( I hate squirrels!), and a rabbit!!! But, I did get to roll for just a second in some good smelling goose poo before dad pulled me away. I managed to get my shoulder in it...BOL!
Then it was back home. What a great morning, too bad mom and dad can't do it more often. I'm sure glad they just said the heck with chores this morning, and wanted to spend some extra special time with me.

Boy, oh boy.....it sure took it's time getting here. I've been cooped up all winter and now it's time to run through the grass in dog feet! Dad and mom have been busy with cleaning up the yard from the winter and getting it ready for their spring and summer fun.
Dad is going to get my pond up and running this weekend I hope. Right now there isn't anything in my pond. No water, no plants, no fishies...nothing. But by Monday, he hopes to have it all ready for me. I've been getting just a little too interested in the fishies in their pond. Mom is trying to figure out a way to snag a couple of them for me. Then, I'll laze by MY pond and watch my fishies and try and catch a couple of them.

Okay, don't get me wrong, I like snow......I really do, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! We haven't got as much snow as the dogs in New York has, but I'm pretty use to the mild winters we've had in Ohio the last couple of years. So, for the last 3 weekends, when dad, mom, Duncan and I would usually be outside for a little while to enjoy some fresh air; I've been couped up.
I've had my fill of the snow. I've done all the corgi angels I care to do and I've buried my nose deep in the snow to try and find new smells that are available (which is NONE because all the other animals are trying to keep warm somewhere.) I'm ready now for my parents to get my pond ready and put my fishies back in so I can watch (and maybe get lucky and get one). To loll about in the spring sunshine and soak up some rays. COME ON SPRING!!!!! I think that stupid groundhog was WRONG when he said an early spring. We've only had one day....ONE DAY about 20 degrees since he predicted that. STUPID GROUNDHOG!!!!!!!

Too cold, mom says. In fact, she barely stands outside while Duncan and I do our business. I don't have the slightest idea what she is talking about. I think it's just fine. In fact, I usually go out and the first thing I do is corgi angels in the snow. I just wallow in that cool, white stuff until I'm covered head to toe. I also like to munch me a trail through it.

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Mom was telling me all about this guy, called Santa, who, at a certain time of year, brings tons and treats to all good dogs. And he came to my house last night!!!
I got a stuffed toy that looks like a real squirrel and a little latex squeeky thing to ;play with, although I haven't yet. I'm not much of a toy player, but every now and then, I will take off with one of Duncan's toys for a few minutes. I wonder how he knew that I might like a stuffed squirrel for Christmas. He must be magical like mom said.
And the treats, well, that's more like people food that mom won't give us except for special occasions. And boy are they good.
I wonder if we can have Christmas once a month? That would be so cool!

I read where lots of dogs had a special dinner called Thanksgiving. We didn't have that at our house. Mom said her and dad are having it in mid December when my Uncle comes to town, over at grandma's house. But we have to stay home while they have all the good food!!! She promised to sneak us some turkey, so I guess that is all right.
Since then, mom sure has been busy cleaning and putting flashy things around the house. She said something about cookies, too. Must mean it's Christmas time, or pretty darn close to it. I sure hope I've been good enough for Santa to bring me another one of those big rawhide candy canes for my stocking. I have to make sure mom buys something special for my dad and put it in his stocking for me, cause he's the greatest!!!! He gives me treats during the football and basketball games and lets me lay my head in his lap all night if I want. I'm sure glad I have my forever home!!!!!! My real home was good, but I sure do like it here!!!!

He had to be such a big pig, now we BOTH are on a diet!!! I was just fine, well, maybe a pound or two over, but that's about it!!! So, now it's weight managment food, with green beans, carrots and pumpkin to help fill me up. I'm not a big fan of veggies, but the pumpkin is okay.
So, because of him, we don't get hardly any special treats from dad. You know, the good kind, like chips, cookies, part of his hamburger and fries when he has them. Mom is trying to be a real eagle eye on him about them also. But, she doesn't know that he will give us maybe one of two chips during the football games while she is at work. But that is all!!! (SIGH) That is why it's all Duncan's fault, the piggy

I got a bath today.......YUCK!!!!! Of course, mom was quite please with my behavior in the bathtub. I calmly stood there and took it, (although I have to admit, the massage is great!). Now I am clean and no more "doggy" smell. What is it with the parents, that as soon as you start smelling your best, they insist on washing it off of you. Worse yet, she won't let me outside for a while, says she doesn't want me rolling in something to get it back.
Now Duncan on the other hand, he was a terror!!!! Kept trying to get out of the tub and got mom all sopping wet. Guess that is why she did him first, said it's like taking bad medicine. The sooner it taken, the sooner it's over. Well, I hope this keeps her satisfied until spring. She'll use th0se hand wipes on us during the winter if we get funky again she said.

That's what mom said it was as hot as. Boy, I thought last month we were having hot weather, but the past week it's been worse!
Mom only has been letting us out in the morning for a little while, in the afternoon just to do our business, and a little at night. But, to tell you the truth, I think I like the inside of the house right now a tad better. At least I'm not panting and feeling miserable.

It has been s-o-o-o-o hot here in Ohio, and the humdity is terrible, that mom has been keeping me inside a lot. She seem to notice that I have been panting more than Duncan, and she thinks it's because of my shorter snout (the chow in me). So we haven't been playing or running as much. In fact, I've been staying up near the big pond looking at those fishes instead of mine. It has a lot more shade to it, and my fish seem to be going deeper in the water to get away from the heat also.
And brushing.......mom has been doing a lot of that to me also. She keeps hoping she can get more fur off of me, to help make me cooler. Poor, silly woman. Doesn't she know that there is no end to my fur, thanks to the corgi in me. Probably the chow too, mom doesn't know if they have that under coat like corgis do, but she know she gets whole lot more fur off of me than she does Duncan.

She is talking about taking me to see a shrink. She claims that I have OCD with the pond. Well, for goodness sakes! Isn't that why they built the pond? So I could sit by it hour upon hour and watch my fish? Humans, they make me wonder at times.

Here's me at my very own pond that mom and dad made for me. Didn't they make it pretty! I have a lighthouse, a pelican, a fishing net and a little boy fishing off the side.
Not only that, besides getting 3 goldfish for me, mom went and bought a white one so I can see it better if the water gets too murky from me stirring it up. I have destroyed the lily that they put in there for the fish to get out of the sun. I keep pawing at it to get out of the way, I even grab it and lifted it out of the water. So, they've decide that the floating water lettuce is all that can go in there.

I've been so busy this week. I got to meet my "Aunt" Nina and "Uncle" Howdy from Florida. They have been so nice to me, and loving me up. I smelled someone on them I met last year when she visited, my "cousin" Teri. She told "Aunt" Nina all about me and wanted to sneak me home on the plane. But dad wouldn't let her.
Also.....dad made me my own pond with my own fishy and everything in it!!! So now, I don't have to go to the big pond that dad made for him and mom looking for fishy and them worrying about me falling in. I can go to my pond and get my face thisclose to them and watch them go around and around. And, if I get too excited and jump in (which mom thinks I've have already because of how wet I was when she looked at me the first day), they don't care!!! I can get out because it isn't very deep and shake the water off anywhere I want. They even put a couple of castor bean plants around it so that I'll have shade for me to lay under when they get big enough. Mom said she'll take a new picture me around "my" pond and post it soon. Later, have to check out my fishy!

Mommy told me today that I was a celeb! I was on Today's pick!!!! Duncan is S-O-O-O jealous. My sister cat, Lissie was picked the other day on Catster.com; and now me!
I would like to thank Dogster.com for the honor and thank my mommy for making a website for me and all the nice people who have corraled me or made me a Pet Pal.
People say everyone has a 15 minutes of fame sometime in their life; and I get a whole day!

Duncan had his birthday the other day and boy, oh boy, did we get neat treats! Bil-Jac dog food, Frosty Paws and beef jigglers; which I got the most of because Duncan didn't like his. Silly dog! Oh well, his loss.
Daddy is sad because his mommy is gone, so Duncan and I have been real close to him the last couple of days. He didn't think we would know something was wrong. But, mommy told him we dogs are very sensitive about what is going on in our home, and will react to it. Seeing how daddy never really had a dog before, he never knew we could tell if someone is sad, sick, happy or upset. He knew cats could at times. So, we've been sitting real quiet with him and licking his hands every now and then to make him feel better. It seems to help him some. At least he smiles at us and gives us a nice petting.

I didn't mean to be. I just now noticed the goldfish in the pond. I can't keep my eyes off of them! I have to watch them all the time. I kept getting closer, and closer and closer to the pond edge, and then, I was IN THE POND. Mommy and daddy kept telling me to get back when I go to close; but this time, they both weren't looking.
I didn't get any fish or anything. Daddy was upset with me for a little while. He made me go inside and stay. But, he's forgiven me, and is going to get the old pond liner in the ground, and put some goldfish in it just me!!! He said he'll put the goldfish, the old fountain and the old waterfall for me and Duncan. How about that!!! Our very own pond to play in all we want. We won't have to worry whether or not we're allowed to get wet or jump in after the goldfish. It'll be ours to do what we want.
Don't I have the greatest mommy and daddy!!!!!

She is always telling me that when Bubba comes downstairs and I want to chase him. His tail sure looks like it belongs to a squirrel from behind, especially when he skitters as mom calls it.
So, since I can't chase him, I've been seeing more and more of him. He seems okay, doesn't bother my food any, just goes to my water bowl and I usually watch him real close.
He doesn't come around me like Lissie does. In fact, Lissie can be a pain in the you know what. She always wants to rub up against me and sniff me. But I do like it when she licks my face, giving kisses is what mom calls them. Makes me feel pretty good and wanted.
Maybe I'll let her have a bite of my food and not chase her away. Just a little bite though.

They're EVERYWHERE is seems like!!!! I've been s-o-o-o-o busy chasing them out of my yard, I can't hardly catch my breath. It seems like I barely get one out of the yard, then I see another trying to get in the yard. I see them running along the wires and I chase them across, telling them to keep going, they can't stop here! It must be the nice weather we've been having the last few days that bringing the squirrels around.
Dad has the pond almost done, he has to put the finishing touches on them he says. Plants, stones, and lights. Pretty soon, Duncan and I will be sitting outside with mom and dad under the gazebo looking at the pond at night. They fix the gazebo up also, with candle light, some sheer curtains and furniture. They do enjoy sitting out there at night. I do, too. Means I can stay out longer, that is, if I don't bark too much and bother the neighbors. But, I'm just guarding my yard from everything that comes near. Well, gotta go out again.

Around 4 in the morning, I heard the most awfulness noise! It sounded like it came from mom's room under the bed; but that's where Duncan sleeps. It was a pitiful attempt to sound like a brave wolf. And that's something Duncan is definitely NOT! If there is a funny noise out in the yard at night, nine times out of ten, he's barking and running BACK to the house away from it. It woke the whole house up and had mom looking at him all over as if he got hurt. Guess everything must have been okay, because the next thing I knew, the lights were out and Duncan was back in his "cave". All that commotion for nothing I guess.

I enjoyed the beautiful weather we had yesterday. While my brother, Duncan helped dad with making the pond larger; I guarded the yard from those pesky squirrels and cats. I make that my job......Chloe, critter chaser. Don't need them getting in dad's way while he's working on my pond. (I know Duncan says it's his pond, but it's not; it's mine). Mom got a kick out of me the other day playing with a destuffed toy. (Duncan destuffs almost all of the toys. Typical little brother, tears up everything!) I was shaking it all around and keeping it away from Duncan, and he was barking and whining (tee..hee) I hardly play with toys, so this was a rare thing for me. Well, gotta go and patrol the yard some more. I just know another squirrel has been in the yard!

Well, my first day on Dogster and so excited about it! I guess I should tell you more about myself.
As my bio says, I'm a rescue, sort of. My old owners were unable to keep me, not by choice though. But they made sure I went to a good home first. They did and do love me very much, and still asks how I am doing. They really miss me I hear and they are kept up on how I am doing from the lady that my mom knows.
My new mom and dad spoil me rotten! They are always getting me chewies and treats, which is why the vet said to slow down on them. I've put on 5 pounds and that doesn't help my girlish figure any.
I have a brother, named Duncan Donut, who is a purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My blood line is Corgi (mom can't tell for sure if it's Pembroke or Cardigan, but she thinks more Cardigan) and Chow Chow. We get along pretty good, but every now and then, I have to put Duncan in his place. He's a little more energetic than I am and usually is trying to get me to play more. I act more Chow than I do Corgi. I'm the one that usually does the guarding of the home. But, you can read more on him on his sight when mom gets it done.
I have another brother and sister, they're cats. Bubba is a big old tomcat, gray and white with fluffy fur, whos' about 12 years old. He doesn't have much to do with me. Probably because I chased him if he "skitters" throught the house. Something about his tail reminds me a squirrels....and I HATE squirrels!!!!!
My sister cat is called, Lissie, which is short for "Little S**t! WHY in the world would you name a cat that!?!?!?!? Anyway, she is all black and not afraid of anything.
Enought about me. I look forward to hearing from new friends!
