Bio:
My registered name is "Stargazers Black Lexis". My moms favorite flower is the Stargazer Lily and Lexis is short for Alexis. No, I am not named after the car, contrary to what everyone wants to believe. I was actually a late Christmas present, and everyone used to say that mom wanted a black Lexus and here I was. I used to be a great duck hunter, but I officially retired when I was 8. I've now handed the torch to my counter part, Reno, and I get to stay home where it's warm and dry. I still like to look for birds in the bushes whenever we go somewhere. I love to go camping and visit everyone in the RV club. I hate to be tied up though, but it's the park rules. We do go exploring at all the campgrounds whenever we can, and if the weather is bad I have a nice new trailer I can stretch out in with my family and snooze.

Forums Motto:

My Tail of Devotion for Lexis 11/24/05 - 7/22/06

You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away

Our "little girl"

Lexis, it seems you came into our life not so long ago, but so much time has passed since. You were the cute pudgy puppy, the one everyone called "Fatso" or "Sausage Dog". You also earned the name "Wiggle Butt" because you had this one sided wiggle, but of course, you were always our little girl.
You became a great hunter, not willing to give up when you there was a duck or pheasant to be found. I can count on one hand how many birds you lost during your hunting career, and that's not many!
As your age started to show and the arthritis became more apparent, it was time for you to retire at 8 years, for your own good and health. It was a hard thing to do, and it was always hard to leave you behind when we went hunting. Please understand that I wouldn't want anything to happen to you out in the field, you're body just can't handle it any more. I still let you sniff all the birds when we get home, I even let you do some retrieves in the yard.
You crossed the bridge on July 22, 2006. We were heartbroken yet relieved, everyday felt like a big question, how much longer is this going to go on? You passed in your sleep on that day, and we were grateful that you made the decision as to when you were ready to go. We miss you terribly, and you will always have a special place in our hearts.

This is a special Tail of Devotion

Pet Expo

Mom and dad went to the Pet Expo Sunday and brought home all kinds of stuff for us. There were bags and bags with all kinds of great smells emitting from them. Reno got a tennis ball and I got a firehouse toy. Of course Reno later took that from me. That's ok, I knew there were treats in the bag. Sure enough, mom started handing me some tasty morsels. I think she set aside a whole bag of goodies, something about pacing ourselves, whatever that means. Mom also went and filled all my prescriptions again. I'm still doing the same. I think she wants to talk to the doctor about a procedure to remove the bumps on my soft palatte, she thinks that's whats causing me irritation. I hope this doesn't mean major surgery. Mom is also trying to talk dad into adopting a brother or sister for us. She said she fell in love with a couple of dogs at the Expo. One was a Katrina rescue, and another was a Chessie that the owners couldn't keep because two was too many. We'll see.

Feelin' better!

Well, I think some of those medications are making me feel a little better. Mom says I don't cough as much since I've been taking the cough suppressants, which means I don't retch as much either. I still get canned food mixed with my dry kibbble, mom says it either makes it easier to swallow, or I just wolf it down without thinking about it. Either way, yum! The last couple of days I've been wrestling with Reno in the living room and mom says that's a big improvement! It does irritate my throat a little, but not enough to interrupt my playtime. I still have about three other medications that mom has not tried yet, she want's to do one at a time and see what's going to work. The cough suppressants do make me feel a little lazy, but I like to snooze a lot anyway. I hope this give some encouragement to any of you out there who are suffering from the same condition. I'll keep you posted of any new information. Now mom is threatening me with a bath. Oh, the irony!
