Leave a bone for Willy (1992-2007)

Nicknames: Tutt-tutt the mouse, tupins, little goy, pup'n stuff, baby-boy, tootsy, toots stuff, machu picchu, machu, tippy, little big guy, and on, and on like that....

Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
Likes: Being at or near the beach

Pet-Peeves: Having his paws touched, being moved anytime after 10PM, and other dogs sniffing his bum.

Favorite Toy: Anything soft and stuffed with a squeeker inside, currently it's a rabbit like the one on Trix cereal

Favorite Food: Monzie's wheat free cookies, carrots, and a mix of dry food with wet.

Favorite Walk: Anywhere in San Francisco, or around his very marked neighborhood in San Rafael

Arrival Story: Adoption: My wife and I were dating at the time. I lived alone in a studio apt. We wanted to get this breed of dog and had been casually looking around. We were visiting my folks in Modesto, and in the paper saw this add; 1 yr Wire Fox, with 50 lb bag of food, $75.00. We were just going to take a look. Willy was a heart grabber and I said we’d take him. I made a deal with the seller to keep him for us for a month while a find a bigger place and one that will allow dogs. He agreed, then called a few days later and said take the dog or he’s off to the pound.
Willy, myself, and a cat named Socks, lived incognito in my studio apt in San Francisco for just over a month. It was the second best decision I have ever made. Marring my wife was number one.

Bio: I had to learn the hard way that Willy can never be off the leash. Every morning we use to walk unleashed around the block where we lived in Palo Alto. At this time I felt enough control for this short walk without a leash. After about 2 or 3 months without incident, one morning after going #2, Willy took off. Straight and fast, I could not even come close to keeping up. He was gone. We stayed home from work and searched the entire day. We made flyers and posted them everywhere. No Willy. Two nights without our baby boy and our hope was fading. Then we got the call. The humane society said they had a similar dog but the colors where wrong.
We were in tears once we got there to find our Willy jumping 5 feet high in a kennel, and flooded with emotion we realized, Willy has rust colored spots, not brown.
Willy has been a source of high energy in our lives since we got him, and our love for him has been a shared, intertwined connector between the three of us. Willy’s gift is teaching us how to love and care on another plane, and we use that knowledge in our everyday lives. Most recently it has helped us in dealing with Willy being diagnosised with cancer.
He has been on chemotherapy for almost a year and is doing great. One last thing about Willy, the energy he has displayed in the way he leads his life, is the energy he appears to put towards his fight against this illness. Willy is winning the battle and we are all well and happy.
Willy passed away on November 26, 2007. He was 15 years, 5 months old. He had a great life and we painfully miss him everyday, but the love he gave us gets us through.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we inform you, on November 26th our beloved little boy passed away. July 1992-November 2007
Willy had a great last week, as Yvette and I brought him to Mendocino with us for our 13-year anniversary. We took in the amazing mountain air, which up there is textured with speckles of the clean air of the ocean. We ate vegetarian breakfast with him; they allow pets in a special area of the restaurant, kind of like a sunroom. He dozed by the fire while we read, and hung out on the balcony when he tired from that. He slept on the gigantic down comforter the inn provides in each room, and enjoyed the constant petting we are accustomed to giving him. We even took him on a canoe ride on one of the most beautiful days we’ve ever experienced while up there. He slept for the first 15 minutes in the base of the canoe. We think the smooth glide was lulling; then he was up and taking in the sights and smells that were in abundance that day.
Once we returned home and a couple days later, he hung out with us while we made a friends Thanksgiving feast. All seven people in the kitchen that day performed ballet to keep from stepping on our clumsy little boy.
A day before his passing, he was in good spirits and as a family, we had a wonderful day filled with loving memories.
He had an amazingly full life . After 15 years of companionship, our hearts are saddened to have him gone, and we will miss him dearly.

It's been awhile since I've posted a note on what I've been up to, so I figured with all I've been through and how good I'm doing, I better put something down.
I moved to San Francisco back in November of 2006 with my folks. We lived in an apartment for a year then got our own place. The apartment was nice and I had two real good friends, Nicky and Simon. All the neighbors loved me and loved my good spirit. I got in the habit of running up and down and back and forth in the hallway every night before my dinner. I just get so fired up to have some good hand made grub. I'd even go into some of the neighbors apartments if they'd leave their doors open and if they where nice. That's how I won most of them over. I'd come in, but not mess up anything, just look around and get some pets, then I was out of there back on course looking for my dinner.
We now live in our own place and it's real nice. I have my own patio, two to be exact and tons of sunlight. The wind picks up in the afternoon and I love to catch a whiff while lazin around. I like to go on walks, but not too far as I've slowed down in my later years. I've got favorite bushes and a couple poles that just do it for me.
I got real sick back in April with chronic diarrhea of all things. I almost died, but my folks would not give up and so I didn't either. The docs had a big hand in it too, especially my new acupuncturist. Yeah who would of thought, but I tell ya, when the traditional meds weren't doing it, the acupuncture combined with herbal medication got me back on track. I'm slower then I was before, but I can feist it up with the best of 'em. I love more then ever to follow my folks around and get into what ever it is their doing. They love it too.
So, I go on. My family and I count everyday as special and take life as it comes. We live in the moment and appreciate one another more then ever. Awe, the beauty of the dog, human relationship. So amazing, so unique.
Peace and love,
Willy

Well, being small almost everything is up, but here's what I've been up to.
I got a bit sick back in October. The doc didn't exactly know what I had, but thought it was a type of infection in my intestine. During my vet visit, I had to lie on my back and not move so they could take photos of my insides. I did what they asked, otherwise they were going to have to put me under and I didn't want that. In the end they gave my folks a bunch of medicines with weird dosage times and off we went. In no time I was feeling better. Oh, and they put me on a new diet with organic chicken, rice, low fat cottage cheese, and carrots. It worked out so well, that that's my new regimen, yummy!
I went to the beach and spent like three days there. I was able to run about on my "invisible leash" for almost 1/2 an hour. It was so fun. I feel at home on the beach, so free, and all the smells; get outta town. It's the best.
Recently the weather has been cold and rainy, so I'm a lazy bones. The grass is good eating though, especially after a good downpour.
This next bit of story is told in the strictest of confidence. In November we went to this small costal town and stayed at this beautiful inn overlooking the bay. Well, it was not a dog friendly place and my folks were tired of the animalist out there. So, they snuck me in. Yeah, that's right, they snuck me in to the inn. Animalist are what my folks call people who discriminate against the beasts not like themselves. I mean, I'm 12 years old and I know right from wrong. Plus if I did anything out of the normal kind of stuff people do to those rooms, I'd be totally responsible. It was fun be on the hush, hush and we all had a great time about the area.
That's about it for now, but I'm always on the go and adventures are abound. So I'll be back with more stories real soon.
Take good walks,
Willy
