Arrival Story:
Greta was at a small county animal shelter in NM where she was only kept off "The List" because a FOS volunteer advised me to call and leave a message over the weekend to let them know I was going to come get her. If I hadn't been given that advice she wouldn't be with us today. When I picked her up at the shelter, she was terrified of everything and just wanted to hide or flatten herself into the floor. An animal control officer had to carry her out to my car. He told me that she had been acting like that since she arrived and he had been calling her 'Sneaky' because of how she wanted to hide all the time. During the 3 1/2 hour ride home, she threw up - probably half her weight of kibble. Lucky for me she insisted on riding on the floorboards and the mess was easy to clean up. She didn't want to get out of my car at first when we got home, so I left her there and went to let Guenevere out into the back yard. Once she finally came into the house (half-carried, half-lured, half-dragged), she was still in full pancake puppy mode until I confined her in a room with the baby gate and then brought Guen in to see her through the gate. I don't think I blinked, but suddenly where the pancake pup had been was a happy playful little girl who was super excited to meet her new foster sister.

Bio:
Greta is a sweet loving puppy - yes, she's still a puppy even at a little over 50 lbs now. She likes to play and chew and be the center of attention. She's completely housebroken and learning the rest of her house manners better every day. She's got a ways to go before she's Ms. Perfect Puppy Girl, but she seems determined to keep on trying and wants to please. She wants to play all the time, except when she's asleep. She's already showing some dominance over Guen, but she still lets Guen say when it is time to quit playing. Guen is submissive and although Greta's still a pup at 7 months she's about the same size as Guen, and it won't be very long before she's bigger than Guen. If I ever don't know where she is, all I have to do is get up and try to walk somewhere - she will be right there under my feet in a heartbeat. ***Growth Update*** Greta, Guen and I went to Pet's Barn to use their scale the other day. Greta weighed in at 61 lbs (to Guen's 50) and I think she is just a smidge taller than Guen now.
