Playing fetch and tug o' war.
Being left alone or ignored.
His tennis ball that he stole from the animal shelter and his big black basketball.
Wet food, even though he only gets it every once in a while.
At the park.
Sit, but he will shake and lay down if you're holding something really yummy in your hand.
I volunteered at my local animal shelter, and my dad said he was looking for a German Shepherd, and if I found one, to let him know. Well, I was taking out the trash one day at the shelter and to get to the dumpster you have to through the "outback", the outside kennel area where the dogs that come in as strays are kept until their seven day holding period is over. I noticed a shepherd out of the corner of my eye and asked the kennel manager if he had any plans for him, such as being promised to a rescue, as many purebred animals are. He said he did not, so I called my dad that night and he was interested. The next day, I took some pictures of the dog and E-mailed them to him, and he fell in love. The Sunday after his stray stay was over, we loaded him up in the van and headed for Georgia.
Duke moved to my house from my dad's after only a week because Dad couldn't get a fence up for him and Duke was badly in need of exercise. He is now living with one of my dad's friends and neighbors until he can get a fence up, hopefully very soon. He loves to play, and enjoys a nice swim whenever we take him to the park or lake. He enjoys nothing more than being loved on though, and can't stand to be ignored! He loves his Mommy- and fetch!
Tennis ball! Throw it! Throw it!

I've been tagged by Jewel, Max, and Hobo to participate in this little game!
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
My random facts:
1. I was real skinny when I was at the shelter- that didn't last long!
2. I LOVE car rides!
3. My favorite hobby? Swimming!
4. Mom says I'm the smartest, stubbornest dog she's ever met!
5. I'm a big ole lap dog.
6. I pant- A LOT!
7. I can run faster than Mom- I've proved that several times over!
The pups I will tag are:
Jewel (different one from the one that tagged me, of course!)

So a couple weeks ago I went to the vet again (terribly boring place- no tennis balls! The ride there is fun though!) and they made me go night night for a while- I had this great dream about tennis balls, and just as I was shoving the fifth one in my mouth and my cheeks were bulging real big from all of them, I woke up in this smelly cage! Turns out while I was napping, they took X-rays to see how bad them little wormy thingies were. They did some other stuff too, like a health screening and a urinalysis and all those big words I don't understand. They gave Paw Paw these pills I had to take for two weeks, which was fine with me because it meant I got treats four times a day- how cool is that?!
Then today I went back again for my first treatment- Mom and Paw Paw were so worried about me, but I did just fine! I didn't like having to stay there all night long with no tennis balls to keep me company, but I survived somehow. I'm back home now- you wouldn't notice a difference! I keep trying to bounce around, but the humans keep saying, "Settle down, Duke- Calm down!" Pfft, the only time I am calm is when I am asleep dreaming about tennis balls.
I'm supposed to stay "quiet" for a whole month long- we'll just see how that goes, heh heh! Then I have to go for- get this- ANOTHER treatment. You'd think the vet would get tired of me after a while, but I can't say I blame them- I mean, look at this face??

I just got back from the vet a while ago- the humans finally got enough money for me to get started on Heartguard, so I had to go get tested before then. Well darn if I didn't come up positive! I'm staying with Paw Paw once again, and him and Mom are going to work out a payment plan with the vet. That's what they get for not getting me started sooner! Not gonna be happy for me though- I'll have to stay CONFINED for a whole month after each of my two treatments!!! No more fetch for a while!! But the humans have promised me tons of special treatment and all the squeaky toys I want, even if I do rip them up in a couple of seconds! It probably won't be until next month or so before I start my treatments, so in the meantime I'm going to enjoy all the fetch I can get the humans to take me out for (which will be plenty- they already promised). Be praying for me- I'm not gonna be a happy pup for a while!
