Oh boy! I'm tired!

Mom's sister got a new puppy and boy, am I tired!! Shazam! (yes, exclamation point included) runs around non-stop! He's 1/2 Border Collie and 1/2 Australian Shepherd. He's a little shy, but I think we're going to be pals. I know mom was worried that I might bowl him over since I'm so big, but honestly, I'm having a hard time even catching him. He's a quick little guy and he loves to play tag! I see him on Sundays and usually spend Mondays napping. I'm going to have to start working out more!
Yesterday Mom took me to one of my favorite places, Pet Smart. A nice lady gave me a hug, she used me to try on a jacket for her dog since I was about the same size. I love Pet Smart since so many people stop to pet me and tell me how cute I am and when we check out I get treats!

Strolling Ann Arbor

It was sunny and a bit warmer on Saturday, and Boy was out of town, so Mom took me out for a stroll in Ann Arbor. It was GREAT! There's a store there we hadn't been to before, The Ann Arbor Biscuit Company. It was on 4th Ave between Washington and Liberty. They gave me a treat and there were so many yummy things in there! Mom bought be a yogurt coated peace cookie that I snarfed down in no time! The people were really nice and I got plenty of pets. We're definitely going back. I want to get a cake for my birthday there (pleeeeeeese Mom!).
Mom also checked out the dog park at Olsen Park in Ann Arbor. It looked really neat, and people seemed good at keeping an eye on their dogs, so I think Mom's leaning toward springing for a permit. Yipeee!!! I know the dog park area is about the size of one of our pastures, but there aren't any dogs to play with in our pasture! (The sheep just don't cut it.) I watched from the car, but I really wanted to get out and play!
I'm so glad spring is coming. I can feel it in my bones. Soon I won't have to clean the snow from my paws everytime I come into the house! That'll be a time saver.

My pal Mickey is gone now. I miss him. Spring won't be the same without him.

Mom got a very interesting phone call last week. Apparently, the people at the Humane Society of Huron Valley (http://www.hshv.org) want to tell the story of how mom and I met at their fundraiser campaign kick off. So they invited me, Mom and Boy to their event at the historic Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor! It's tonight and I'm so excited!!! All those people, all those pats on the head! I might even get a good scratch or two. Maybe a treat! I got brushed last night, and I know mom had to fight the urge to dress me up, but I think everyone will agree that low key would be best. The event is tonight, 5:30-7pm and there's more information on the Humane Society of Huron Valley's website (above). I know they need the money to expand their facilities. I keep thinking of all the dogs in awful circumstances that'll be given a chance at a great forever home like I have and how much this money is needed for them. And not just dogs, either! I suppose cats should have a chance, too.

I'll miss you

I'll miss you, Scarlet. I know I only knew you a few years, but you were a very sweet dog. I know you're no longer in pain, but I still miss you.

Walk and Wag!

Mom says I need to lose a few pounds (maybe that's true) and the Walk and Wag is coming up in Ann Arbor (5/19) so both of us have been getting up really early to fit in a walk every morning. The sun coming up is very pretty, and there are plenty of deer and rabbits bopping around for me to sniff out. I see mom roll out of bed and grab her shoes and I get all excited!!!

Let it snow!!!

Finally!!! It's been all warm and muddy here in Michigan, a very weird winter. Not too long ago it finally got cold!!! Yeah!!!! I love cold and snow! I have such a thick fur coat that the cold doesn't bother me and snow on my paws is such a small price to pay for all that fun. I love running big circles around the yard kicking up snow when I turn. I also like putting my nose into every single deer, rabbit, cat, horse, raccoon or oppossum track I can find. I don't like salt on my paws (ouch!), but so far Mom has kept me on the back roads and we haven't gone for any walks in town. So many people salt the sidewalks it's no fun for me!
As soon as I come in I lay down and lick my paws clean of any snow, of course!! I wasn't raised in a barn y'know! *sheesh*

Hot, Hot, Hot!!!

It was HOT this weekend!! Mom tried to keep me indoors all weekend. I think she worries about me too much. Would I be so hot with thick, black fur?? I did lay out for a bit, and I started panting without even doing anything, but sometimes a dog just likes to hang outdoors.
Last week I went to see a funny looking cat. I was in the yard and I saw this black cat with some white stripes and short stumply legs and a big bushy tail, it was just waddling along in the yard. Grandma started calling me with a funny voice like she was really worried, so I came right away (not what I usually do) and she put me right inside. Come to think of it, the funny looking cat smelled kind of funny, too. Hmmmmm...
I hope the weather breaks soon, mom hasn't taken me into Ann Arbor for walks in a long time. She did start taking me on really fast walks around our neighborhood. She won't even let me stop and sniff too often! She just tries to walk really fast and she sweats a lot. I don't get it myself, but if I'm with mom, I'm happy! I don't care what we're doing!

Feeling better!

Apparently, medicine tastes just like a big wad of peanut butter with a funny green capsule in the middle! Not that I chew it or anything. I am a dog afterall.
My nose is feeling much better. It doesn't itch so much and it's not as red. Whew! Mom's trying to help me keep my nose out of things, but there are so many gross and digusting things I like to sniff. I don't think she understands the attraction. It's a dog thing.
I've been hanging out with my 'cousins' Mickey, Annie and Casey a lot. Mom and Boy have been busy, busy, busy. I do get extra hugs and more good brushings at night though, so I guess it's ok.
I got out of the yard last week, Grandma said I was missing almost an hour before she noticed I was gone! She grabbed her car keys to start trolling the neighborhood looking for me, but I was already at the front door wanting to get in. I don't like being out in the world all on my own! I want my people with me!

Not feeling so good.

Mom thought I had a scab on my nose, it turned out to be a bacterial infection! Mom's really surprised and she doesn't know how I could've picked up such a thing. Now I have to take medicine to get better. Does medicine taste like treats? I hope so!
Mom brushed me for an hour last night. Boy, did that feel good!
