I love my birthday!

I'm a Birthday Girl!

I just love my birthday! I woke up my human and brother to start celebrating at 3 AM. It's such fun to start the day with a special song!

Special treats, special toys, extra playtime, and then a bath so I could volunteer as a PetPal today.

I really enjoy visiting my elderly friends. Today there were 10 people who wished me a Happy Birthday, which had me grinning from ear to ear.

Since it was too hot and humid to romp outdoors, I was treated to special soft serve icecream and solo time in front of the a/c. This is the life!

I can't believe that I have to wait a whole year before it's my day again. Good thing Ben's birthday is coming up in less than two weeks. :-)

Nyx is not right.

After nearly a month, Nyx has been having seizures twice a day since Sunday, and then not recovering enough to play with me. Mom and I are very worried. We thought that the human medications that Nyx started in April were working when we went 7.5 weeks without incident.... :-(

It''s my birthday!

I'm the birthday girl! I can't wait for the celebration to begin!
I'm looking forward to some of the special salmon stars that
mother bakes for me. Hope that we can play ball outside today.
Even though I'm completely blind now, my new ball has a bell
in it so that I can sort of hear where it lands. Nyx helps, too,
and we have a blast!

PRA Diagnosis Day

Today Dr. Greentree confirmed that I have PRA, a recessive genetic disease
that causes adult-onset blindness late in entles. (I'm nearly 8 and thought that we were home free after normal Cerfs at age 2,4, and 6.) I can't see out of my left eye at all, but I can still see well enough out of my right eye to show Nyx who is alpha and to find the red ball occasionally. It doesn't hurt, but PRA is going to take a lot of getting used to. Sadly, I'm going to have to retire in my work as a PetPal since finding toys thrown for me outside of ouor home is very difficult.
