We are Home

We are home in New Orleans - actually have been for a few months now. We live right on Bayou St. John, which is, I'm pretty sure, Dog Heaven. I am so happy!!!!

Yeah, I know

I'm a lousy correspondent, but seriously, there's not much to report lately. The only changes are that Rosie's pretty much all grown up, and that daddy is no longer a lawyer. He runs his own business now. He has an office, but he spends a lot of time working at home. This is fun for us, because we've learned that he's very protective of his PHONE TIME, and doesn't like to have us barking at him while he's doing important things on THE PHONE. I have discovered that PHONE TIME is the best time to get treats....all we have to do is act like we're about to bark, and he'll throw us treats to make sure we stay quiet. So predictable!

Anyway, there's other news, but I'll let Easy share it since it means way more to him than it does to me.

If anyone on here knows my mama IRL, please come and help ASAP. She needs an intervention! Bang on the door, ring on the phone, whatever. Just get her off that danged GUITAR HERO ON TOUR thing she's playing on her Nintendo. She's been doing it for like 24 hours straight, and I'd really like her to stop and take me for a walk or a ride in the car.

Man, time flies, especially when you have all pack management responsibilities I've got. Now I have to break in a new puppy and teach her all the important stuff like where the humans keep the chewies and proper butt-licking technique (got to keep it graceful and girly, but still get the job done). It's really hard being me. At least the Little One is no threat to my alpha-dog status. She's pretty and smart, but I'm gorgeous and a genius....

1. Mom picked me out of a huge litter of pups because I crawled out of my dog mama's crate and right up my human mom's sweater!

2. Once, when daddy put my ball up on top of a cabinet, I dragged all the dog beds over there, stacked them one on top of the other, and tried to climb up high enough to get my ball. It didn't work, but the humans were impressed anyway with my cleverness and determination.

3. Living in Vegas, I liked to chew up things that smelled like Louisiana. My favorite was when mom came back with a copy of "Rising Tide." It smelled nice and swampy, so I ATE it. It was the best book she ever read, and the best I ever tasted.

4. I watched the Democratic debates on television, and I barked every time Dennis Kucinich started talking.

5. I can't stand it when anyone else tries to go up or down the stairs before me. Mom's the only one who can get away with it.

6. When daddy opens the cupboard, I can point with my nose or paw at whatever treat I want at any given moment.

7. I am the pushiest alpha dog you'll ever meet, but you looooove me because I'm so smart and so, so sweet LOL!

Mmmmm....crawfish!

Well, Mardi Gras came and went. We didn't have the best time cuz Mom hurt her stupid back again. She's gonna get a shot in her spine to try to make her disk stop swelling and start to heal up. Pretty creepy, huh? At least she's able to walk around and feed us and drive us places in the car. She blames Katrina stress and lifting for her messed up back...but then again she blames Katrina for pretty much everything over the last 19 months. Bad back? Katrina. Can't find something in one of the zillion boxes in the living room? Katrina. Mad at Daddy? Katrina. Weird dreams about Chris Rose again? Katrina. Dry, itchy scalp? Katrina. What-EVER! Let it go already!

Anyway, us dogs made out pretty good despite mom being on her back for most of MG. We got great Muses stuff - no decorated shoes, but we got a couple of squeaky shoes, which I LOVE! Also managed to snag a few stuffies that somebody's kid didn't want and more frisbees than we can bury in every park in the city.

We're hoping that life will be more normal now that festival season is upon us and Mom's up and moving again. She'll be hopeless to be around if she can't get to all the music festivals. She's really jazzed about Jazz Fest because Van Morrison is going to play the first Friday of Fest! She's going to that even if somebody has to wheel her in on a guerney LOL! Just make sure that somebody wheels her past the Crawfish Monica booth to get takeout for us. I hear the crawfish are going to be tasty and plentiful this spring.

Mmmm, crawfish. I'm gonna go lay down in the corner and make plans for a big ol' crawfish boil.

And BTW, Geaux Lady Tigers!!!!

According to today's paper, Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie just bought a big house at the edge of da Qwarter and enrolled Maddox in a local school! Looks like New Orleans "got" 'em, and that they "get" New Orleans too! With all the crazy-in-a-bad-way stuff going on (RIP Dicky - we'll always love and remember you!), it's so nice to have somebody show some support for the city. This Brangelina thing is HUGE!!!

I wonder if they have a dog....if they do, I'll bet he's GORGEOUS!

I loooove Anderson Cooper!

Anderson Cooper was in town again to cover the enough-is-enough-anti-crime march, and he read mom's CNN blog comment on the air!!!! How cool is that?
