She used to chase her curly tail but isn't really big on "tricks" other than tapping your leg while you are eating because she wants some of what you're having.

Arrival Story:
We have always only had Boxer dogs, but my younger son Max always wanted a Pug. When both Max and my Boxer (Brutus), passed away unexpectedly within 16 days of each other, we were beside ourselves. My remaining Boxer (Samson) lost 14 pounds in two weeks and was clearly depressed. When my doggie daycare called me to tell me they knew about a Pug that needed a new home, I jumped at the opportunity as I had always promised Max we'd have a Pug someday. Kiki's former human brought her to our house that same night and she and Samson hit it off right away. It was the first time I'd seen Samson's stump wag in weeks. Because of Kiki, he started to eat and play again. She came to us at a year old and wasn't potty trained so that kept us busy for a while. Kiki used to poop in the house where ever she pleased, but being a Pug, she is very food and treat motivated and so she learned quickly. We are very thankful to have Kiki's love and companionship - she helps our family a lot and we consider her a gift from Max and Brutus.

Bio:
Kiki joined our family on Feb. 7, 2006. Her former human told me Kiki was originally purchased from a pet store in Milwaukee. Her birthday is February 1, 2005. She was raised around other dogs in her former home and has a very sweet disposition. Her given name (Kiki) fits her perfectly because she is a little sassy princess, so we didn't change her name when she came to live with us but my husband started calling her Nelly and she responds to both names (when she feels like it, of course).

A New Sibling?

Mom's been talking about adopting a new dog for over a year now and I'm getting the feeling that it's actually going to happen any week now. She's been scouring the available dogs page at her group Florida Boxer Rescue and just has to pick a boy Boxer that likes small dogs like me, and cats because we have one of those too.

My brother Samson is 10 years old and doesn't want to play with me very often. Since dropping four pounds, I've developed tons of spunk and energy and want to play, play, play. Mom says getting a young Boxer will be good for the whole family (although I'm not convinced I like the idea because that might mean less me-and-mommy time). My mom said she'll love us all the same and it will be fun to have a new dog around.

So maybe by the next time I write in my diary, I'll have a new furbro to tell you all about.

I'm on a Diet!

Well, it appears as though mom and dad have been naughty as they have been over feeding me. I went in for a check up and my vet told my mom that I have to lose some weight - I was 24 pounds and he wants me down to 16 or 17 at the most. So, my food has been scaled back, and I'm given lots of green beans and mom had to cut out some of my supplements and lots of my treats. This stinks, because I LOVE FOOD!!!!!!!!!

Not only am I on a diet, but I have been battling an E Coli infection after trying to eat another dog's poop on one of my walks. Mom caught me, but it was too late - I already chomped away on it. Mom is angry with a lot of her neighbors who NEVER pick up after their dogs. I've been sick for over a month and am trying to get better. I hope to be over this soon and also can't wait to lose all the weight I need to. I already look a lot better and weigh 21 pounds. Mom walks me five times a day and we go much farther than we used to, to help speed up my weight loss.

I hope 2008 gets better for me...

Saturday Night Adventure

This past Saturday night (March 17, 2007), mom arranged for my family (even Grandma & Grandpa B.) to go to the mall to get our pictures taken by a professional photographer. The ride over in the car was exciting enough for me, but then...THEN...we got to actually walk into the mall (on leashes of course)! It was eight o'clock at night, but there were still a lot of people milling around and many of them did double-takes as my big (and I mean BIG) brother Samson and I walked around on our way to the photo studio.

Once there, we were all put in a room. The photographer pet me and told me I was cute (um, duh) and started taking pictures of my skin kid brother. Then, Sammy and I got in some pictures with our humans and then we took a bunch just of us dogs! My mom's favorite one is posted in my bio and she's going to add another cute one of me and my skin brother soon. I was kind of shaky and nervous but my mom gave the photographer a bunch of treats to give me during the shoot, so somehow I coped.

I heard mom say this was going to be an annual thing, so I guess we won't be going to that big building again until next year (and that's fine with me).
