 Quick Bio:
Likes: Being with his mommy and daddy, although food is a close second!

Pet-Peeves: Being left and mounted by another dog.

Favorite Toy: Stuffed animals that I can tear apart and leave all over the floor to clean up...

Favorite Food: Lamb and rice! Nature's Recipe is my favorite, but I like anything natural.

Favorite Walk: around the courtyards in our townhouse community-there's always another friend out to play with!

Best Tricks: We're learning... So far "sit" is all we have down.

Arrival Story: Three days after our 15 year-old English Cocker Spaniel passed away, we decided we needed to get another dog. We were too lonely and we wanted to give a good home to a needy dog. We began looking at local rescue groups for Beagles and Beagle mixes, as I had always wanted one. The first one we looked at was Hewitt, then Buster, we loved his profile, called the group, made an appointment that night with his foster mom and signed the contract an hour later. We couldn't take him right away, as we were leaving for a 10 day vacation, but we picked him up on our way home from the airport, January 2nd. He is named after Paul Hewitt, the Georgia Tech basketball coach, and the light of our life. He even comes to school with his mommy (she's a teacher) sometimes because she can't stand leaving him!

Bio: Hewitt came from the Homeward Trails Rescue group, based out of Alexandria, Virginia. He was picked up from a high-kill shelter in West Virginia and nothing is known about his past. We're not sure his age, somewhere between 2 and 4, so we say 3 (we're making January 2nd, 2003 his birthday). We do know that there are many beagles left, abandoned, or killed by their owners in the rural Mid-Atlantic area because they don't hunt properly, so Hewitt might be one of those. But we can't understand why anyone wouldn't want this adorable, sweet, and caring puppy. Plus, he sure can hunt squirrels!

Forums Motto: Don't leave me! Go Tech! Food?!

Woof! Another interesting weekend for me. My mommy's parents drove up from Florida to visit and spent time with me. I immediately liked my grandpa, you could tell he really liked doggies and he kept trying to get me to howl. My grandma has a funny voice and I don't understand her all the time, plus she keeps speaking in a funny voice to me. My mommy says it's because she something called "English" and teaches little human kids, so she speaks to every one that way.
They brought lots of bags with them, so I immediately went to work sniffing and trying to find all the food they had, but Mommy kept pulling me back. They got to stay in that mysterious room, with the comfy bed, that Mommy won't let me in. She calls it a "guest room" and I am constantly trying to get in there.
My grandma isn't quite used to me and my ways, so I almost got some of her chicken florentine, but Daddy grabbed my collar and pulled me away. Drat! I kept giving my special "doggie" looks, trying to get food, but Grandpa would only give me vegetables, which I just spit out. Yuck!
Grandma did give me a very little piece of something called fruitcake, which I liked very much. I managed to snag a piece off the coffee table last night when no one was looking. I was found out though and lectured, so I sulked under the dining table until they took me out for my last walk.
Then, when everyone was getting ready for bed, they found that I had snuck into that special room and got into Grandma's suitcase. She had something she called "scones" in there, which I got out of a bag and a container and ate all up. They were delicious! Again, Mommy and Daddy weren't too happy about that. They figured out that's why I didn't eat my dinner. Oopps! I just couldn't help it. Lemon/raspberry biscuit-things are much better than lamb and rice natural dry dog food!
I didn't even try to climb into bed with Mommy and Daddy tonight and slept in my own bed like a good boy. I think I got into trouble enough for one weekend! Woof!

Howl! I am very sleepy now after a busy weekend. I had a neighborhood playdate yesterday morning (Saturday) with a bunch of new friends I met this week in my community. Duchess, the Mastif, Sadie, the Yellow Lab, Bray, the Boxer, Heidi, the Scottish Terrier, and Stokely, my best friend who is also a mutt from the same rescue group. Stokely's mommy and daddy work at the same school as my mommy and he's just a puppy, but we play together all the time!
Anyway after showing my daddy my new friends and playing ball with everyone, Mommy and Daddy took me to lunch at Baha Fresh. Really, they tortured me with yummy food smells while I had to sit quietly under the table. And to top it off, Mommy wouldn't let me crawl under the next door table to clean up after the baby who was dropping all his food! How mean! After lunch we went to Old Town, where Mommy and Daddy used to live with my big sister Muffin, who I never met, but they tell me about her all the time. They took me to Fetch, a doggie bakery that my Mommy says was Muffin's favorite. I got to try special doggie treats and pick out my own, it was great! My favorite are the "Beagle Bagles", I wonder why?!
Today, Mommy gave me a bath and let me play with my neighbor, Carlos, a boy who is very nice to me. He gave me some meat that they were cooking on their BBQ, but fell in the fire. I wanted to stay more and check out the BBQ, but Mommy wouldn't let me because I kept getting to close to the fire. So she put me inside and I just howled at her and Daddy. I wanted them to know how unhappy I was without them.
Mommy gave me a rubber ducky after dinner that some of her students gave to her for me. I immediately chewed it up and left a mess for her to clean up, so it seems like a perfect time to sleep now. YAWN!
