2010 has been a rough year on our family... but there have been some great highlights. First, my Grandma was in a horrible accident. Luckily she is okay. A couple weeks after that, I was limping really bad. Mom took me to the Vet and found out thatI have hip dysplasia. Not super bad yet, so Mom hides meds in cheese for me. I know there are meds in the cheese, but she seems so happy when I take them.
Then, my sister, Angel, was diagnosed with cancer; a tumor in her sinuses. She is doing well and enjoying her treatments (not chemo though).
Less than two weeks later (and just after Mom had laminate flooring installed), I was jumping onto the couch and both legs came out from under me and I screamed. Never thought a dog could scream, huh?? Turns out that I tore the acl in both of my knees. Since then, I have been staying with my Grandma and Grandpa (G&G), as they have carpet and no rocks outside so I can get good traction.
So in June, my sister Angel wasn't doing as well as she is now. We didn't think she was going to make it much longer. So Mom decided to get another dog, Tyson. To introduce him to Dinky before Angel passed away. Good bonding time. Little did Mom know that going to an Integrative Vet would make a world of difference for Angel. So now we have little Tyson and Angel is doing well. WOOHOO!
Things were starting to go well, so of course, a little bad news had to come. While Mom was trying to save money for my surgery (acl) I ended up developing too much scar tissue and now cannot have surgery. It is bad news for Mom, and while it is a little sad for me, I am not too upset. I have been living with G&G and now get to stay here. I am living the good life as a ranch dog. Only showing a little soreness from time to time. While I miss my Mom, life is still good.
Just a couple more things to tell...
In September, my Mom took in a little foster dog. She named him Tobyn. He is cute... for a little guy. Mom said that he was scheduled to be pts at a shelter because he was mean to all the people and didn't like the shelter. Who would like the shelter, right? So, since he got along so well with my siblings and the only person interested in adopting him flaked, Mom decided to keep him. At least he keeps Tyson and the kitties busy. HA!
So then a couple of weeks ago... while at my G&G's house, playing with the neighbors dogs like I always do... one of them attacked me. Lots of puncture wounds all over my head and neck. Don't know if the wounds or the wonderful shaving job looks worse. Ended up having to go back to the Vet, two of the wounds weren't draining, so now I have two drain tubes in. Mom says they look like bones sticking out of my head. It was a little rough trying to eat after the tubes were put in, as I have stitches from my jaw, up the side of my head in front of my ear to the top of my head. A little sore to say the least... the tubes/stitches come out next week. While I may not look good, I haven't let it slow me down. The lamp shade makes moving around interesting, but I think it looks good.
Mom said that for the last couple of months of 2010, we are all staying quiet and not doing anything that can rattle us. I feel bad for Mom and my G&G though. While I have told you about all my siblings, there is more going on with the rest of the extended family. Mom says that she couldn't get through it without all of us dogs (and the kitties too), so...
