Arrival Story:
Arashi was in a pound 1 day from his PTS date when someone rescued him for me in Virginia.

Bio:
The shelter told her that Arashi was suspected of being kept in a crate most of his first 8 months of life which probably caused him to chew the fur and skin off his legs out of boredom. He and Mikhah had a rocky start for the first couple of months but become best buddies. They share food and love to wrestle. Arashi is Japanese for Thunderstorm and believe me, he lives up to it. He loves to lay outside in the snow and the rain and I can't count the number of times I have gone outside in the dark of night to bring him inside for bedtime. (Thank goodness for the security light!) Of course, Arashi couldn't possibly use the dog house or huge lean-to I built them for cover. He has to be in the elements. He loves to watch the lightning bugs, the bats catching insects, the stars and the sounds of the night. He can tell if a snowstorm is coming by sniffing the wind and he can tell the direction it will be coming in too! He loves to jump through a hoop and is a riot when ice cream is on the menu - he licks his lips, then smacks them really loud and backs up in sheer delight of the thought. When he gets his bath, he is truly the only dog I have even seen who can backup the shower wall and just have his front feet in the tub and his hind feet more than half way up the sides of the shower and stay there until I am done giving him his bath! Arashi and Mikhah both know all of their tricks verbally as well as, in American Sign Language. Arashi has a medical problem; he is an epileptic but so far the seizures are far enough apart that he requires no medication at this time. Mikhah is very protective of him. Arashi has forced me to keep the deadbolt on the back door. He is a master at opening the back door from the outside and coming in. Of course he leaves it wide open and I get to try and catch the cats who got out. Last winter I forgot to use the deadbolt and left the house for a couple of hours. I came home to the door wide open, about 6 inches of snow all over the kitchen floor for about 6-8 feet and I had to go out into the fields with a flashlight to find one of my cats who scaled the 6 foot fence. Of course the temperature inside the house wasn't exactly warm. What a good boy he was...
