Arrival Story:
Gonzo was adopted with one of his brothers, from the unfortunate grasp of the puppy-farm lady when he was 6 weeks old by Don, the very tall man-boy.

Bio:
Unfortunately, during Gonzo's first year, he managed to sneak out of his house. A peice of $#!% excuse for a human thought it might be funny to run down the puppy with his car and did so, leaving Gonzo with a severly broken hind leg. After searching the area for his puppy, Don received a phone call from a veterinary hospital a few towns over stating that they had Gonzo and he could come decide on his necessary care. Don insisted that Gonzo get the best care for his broken leg no matter the cost as opposed to euthanizing him. Gonzo healed up perfectly, the driver was never found and life went on... Gonzo's brother who was under the guardianship of Don's sister, was 'not right in the head' and needed to be euthanized during his third year of life. Gonzo, on the other paw, although "not right in the head" in a less lethal manner has had a happy and good life since being brought home by Don. In recent times - in his old age, he has lost his hearing and his ability to climb the stairs without falling down a few times. It makes the cats laugh, but we still love him anyway. Today, March 19th 2008 at 11:55AM EST, Gonzo passed peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge with some planned assistance, here at home. He was 16 years and 2 months old. He went comfortably with his daddy and mom at his side knowing how much he was and always will be loved.

To all our friends,

Mommy here.
I have the DREADED task of trekking up to Boston tomorrow morning for a job that *may* last as long as 3 months (die-hard NY YANKEES home) . I will be traveling back and forth between there and home, but I have no idea how often or for how long when I do.
I will have my laptop, but I honestly do not know if and when I might have the chance to log on to Dogster and "check in".
I have not been active much since Don and I helped Gonzo cross the bridge (for obvious reasons) and of course, it's ironic that just as I'm ready to get back to business and THANK EVERYONE for their rosettes / stars, e-mails of support, etc, I am called away.
To all our friends, please know that every thought is appreciated and I hope that you know that you are all in our thoughts for well wishes and happy days each time we think of Gonzo.
Much love and thanks to you all again and we will be back and around soon.

I made it

At 11:55 AM EST, I crossed over the Rainbow bridge with Dad and Mommy at my side.

So far...
It is AMAZING HERE...

Too much to do, so much to see...

It may be a while before I get back to you all but again, thank you for all of your p-mails, rosettes and kind words during my last moments.

Wow...

It's raining today.
I would have liked to see the sun one last time but it's OK.
I like the rain. It's peaceful.
And fitting.
In just a few hours, I'll make my trip.
My family is very sad I can see it in their eyes, they have already started to cry.
...
...
Last night I had a pizza party!
Dad came home with a whole pizza- my favorite food and gave me a few slices!
I never get WHOLE SLICES!
I LOVE pizza- especially the crusts when they are chewy with a bit of cheese on them. It was a good crust last night, I was happy that they remembered to think of it.
...
OK my friends, I think it's time to say goodbye to you all.
I really should spend my last hours with my family and walk around my house one last time.
I want to remember all of this and all of you for making my time around here so special. Especially yesterday- My Daily Dairy Pick and all of the p-mail and rosettes and special gifts I received from so many of you. Thank you all SO MUCH. I will be forever grateful to you for making my last day here on Dogster AND on Earth, so special.

Remember,
"If you're not being a 'bad dog', you're not having enough fun".
Gordy, my trouble-making kitty brother, told me that.

I think I've had enough fun now to say Goodbye.
