Arrival Story: Sketch was born into a litter of a mix breed of Black Lab and Golden Retriever. Her mother, the Golden, was quite elderly when she became pregnant and soon after Sketch and her brother's and sister's were born her Mom passed away.
I choose Sketch out of the litter before her eyes were even open. I had to paint her toe nails bright purple so that I would know when coming back to visit that she was my little girl.
Sketch was a very maternal, affectionate dog. When my daughter was 2 years old and Sketch was around 6 months old, my duaghter was having a temper tantrum, (normal behavior for a two year old!), my Sketchy looked at me like "aren't you going to do anything", and I just said to her, honey it's just something that she has to go through. Sketch did not take that as an answer and trotted over to her anxiously, laid down next to my daughter and put her paw across her chest. Sketch actually started to rock her back and forth!! Instantly my toddler stopped crying because she was now focused on the doggy. I could not believe my eyes!! How loving and maternal and affectionate she was.
That was only the beginning of her protecting, sheltering and mothering instincts. She was truly a special animal. Sketch had many medical problems mostly focused on ear problems. She had surgery on both ears and constantly had infections and had to be treated with heavy doses of antibiotics.
Last year on what seemed to be a normal day, things were not normal on our potty trip outside. I took her to the vet immediately to find out that she had a tumor in her stomach that was taking 80% capacity. There was little chance of survival and at her age of 12 the vet felt she would not make it through surgery. We had to make an awful decision and said our goodbyes that day. Sketch will long be remembered and loved and cherished as someone who was a vitally important part of our family. We know that someday we will meet again and that she is sharing her love and joy to all of our pets over the rainbow bridge and they are smiling down on us.
The day that we reunite will be joyous!!
Rest In peace my angel girl, mommy misses you, everyone does.

Bio: Today is March 10, 2006 and this is the first anniversary of the death of my beloved Sketch. The past year has gone so quickly and it is hard to believe that it was one year ago today that my tears soaked her jet black fur. I can remember everything about her, how she smelled what she felt like and how she looked at me as if to say "it's okay mommy I am going to be fine." I just know that she is still here with us as her spirit lives within our hearts and guides us every single day.
Love and Kisses to my special angel girl.
Love Forever-
Mommy
