Arrival Story: I started working at the local humane society in 2003. Nakita was already there. She came in because her owners said they were moving. Well 2 days after she was turned in she had 7 puppies. Lots of people looked at her but did not take her. I had to put one of my other dogs to sleep and my other dog was lonely. Nakita had been at the shelter for over a year at that point and she was becoming one of the dogs on the been ther to long group. I decided that I should take her home. It was not her fault her owners did not spay her and then dumped her at the shelter. She deserved a good home. So after another attempt at finding her a home at an outreach and no luck she came home with me that night and has been with me ever since.
Bio: She has gone through obedience training but sometimes forgets.

I've Been On Dogster Since:
So yesterday I decided to jump the fence (like I am not suppose to do) and I cut my tummy open. Well, Mom freaked out. I got pumped full of antibiotics and cleaned up and a cone put on me. Well I was ok with that but then she called the vet. I hopped in the car willingly cause I thought we were going to the dog park. When we got there, Mom made me stand on the scale. I weigh 36 pounds now. I did lose a few pounds. I was chunky for a while. Well, they took me to the back and told Mom to come and pick me up in a couple of hours. They knocked me out, put a drain in me and stiched me back up. I was happy to see the 2 greyhounds when they walked past me. I wagged my tail but could not get up to say hi. Mom finally came and got me after what seemed like forever. I still have to wear the cone though. I really hate it. Now I have to take medicine too. They said I have to come back in a couple of days to get the drain taken out. I am not excited about that. I am in pain but I don't want to be a baby. I am taking it like the Pittie that I am. Next time I will just have to jump higher.
Last week my mommy was on vacation. She decided to take a couple of us dogs to the dog beach. Of course I was going to be one of them. I was not going to take no for an answer anyways. It was a very long car ride. We got to the beach and I had no clue where I was. My pulled out my tennis ball. I got very excited. She through it into the water and I didn't think twice about it. I dove right in and got it. We played fetch in the water for hours. I would not give up. I did take in quite a bit of salt water though and got sick from it later. But it was worth it. I had the best time ever. Mommy didn't know that I like to go swimming. She told me she will try to take me swimming more often. The only problem is that there is no place around here to go swimming. But I will keep my hopes up and go again. The car ride was well worth it. I had the best time ever.
Today I got to go for a very long walk. It was great. We had never been on this trail before and we wanted to try something new. We went off the beaten path and walked the dirt paths. It was so awesome. I almost stepped on a little black snake. Mom didn't see it at first but when she did she almost had a heart attack. Our walk took a little less than 3 hours. I love to walk so it was great for me. Mom said something about me having to be tired tonight. The trail was 3 miles long, but that was one way. We had to turn around and go back too. So all in all we walked 6 miles today. Mom was exhausted but I kept pulling her forward. I wasn't that tired. I can't wait to go back. I had a great time.
