My Mom is too cool

I love doggy day care! My mom takes me there once a week. I have so many friends, and the nice ladies that work there told my mom that I get along with everyone. They call me the King because all the other dogs follow me around! I think that is too cool! I wish I could go there more often because it's great exercise and helps me to socialize. I can't contain myself when Mom gives me that look like we're going somewhere and asks me if I'm ready for day care. I get VERY excited!

I love to wiggle and 'dance', as Mom likes to say, when she walks in the door from being at work all day. I just love to see her! But after a day at doggy day care, I don't have the energy to wiggle for her. I am always sleeping when she gets home because I get dropped off before she gets back. I can hear the garage door open, but I can barely make it out of my slumber. Mom thinks it's cute. Maybe if I keep being cute, she'll take me to day care more often :) Arf!

I wanted to extend lots of love to my idols on Greatest American Dog. You guys rock! You are all so talented. I know my mom wishes I could do the cool things that you know how to do. I have a problem with the commands 'stay' and 'come'. But I can certainly give a 'high five' like the best of them! I can't wait to see who wins the competition, but to me and Mom, you're all winners! Thanks for making our life a little more entertaining. We love you!

It's too hot

Hi guys,
It's been so long since I last wrote in my diary. I've been playing so much that I haven't had time to compose anything! I turned 2 years old a few weeks ago and since then Mom has told me that I've calmed down so much. I think it's only because it's so hot outside that it poops me out and I don't feel like playing.

We went to visit Grampa and it's always so much fun seeing him and Uncle Sammy. Sam gets annoyed with me sometimes though because I like to bite his jowels and sniff his butt. I guess when you get to be his age (he will be 10 this year!) you don't want to deal with us young pups. I try to find the rawhides that Sammy hid over the past years, dig them up and bring them to Grampa. Mommy doesn't allow me to chew rawhides because she says I'm allergic to beef...but I don't always listen to her. Grampa thinks it's so funny when I break the rules!

I had a checkup at the vet yesterday and I had a great time! I love seeing the Dr and all the nice techs. Suzie is my favorite. She'll stop whatever she's doing to play with me. I wiggle my butt a lot for her because she's the best! The Dr had to relieve my anal glands...it felt so good. Mommy told him to check me out because I'd been dragging my little butt on the floor for the past week - and even though she laughs so hard when I'm doing it, she knew something was up. So he did and I pooped a little in his hands, but now it's not itchy anymore. Going to the vet always makes me feel better.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great summer! I sure am. I love staying inside all day with the central air on. Mom calls me spoiled :) Snort, Leroy

Walk to the shore

Hi guys,
Mom decided that it would be a good idea to take me for a walk to the shore by our house the other day. I was so excited because I like putting my front paws in the water and drinking from the lake. I thought we were going to our dock, but instead Mom walked me down the road to a little park. I wasn't prepared!

First of all, she had me in this weird get-up that she calls a harness. I am not used to it, but she said I had to wear it because it's easier to control me when we're walking than when I'm just wearing my collar. Second of all, Mom wouldn't let me get close to sniff those big things that kept passing us. She called them 'cars' and said they are dangerous and that I need to learn to steer clear of them. All I wanted to do was say hi to the people in them.

We walked for what felt like an eternity and by the time we got to the beach, I was so tired. Mom and I sat in the sand for a while, and I drank a little bit from the lake. I wasn't ready to leave just yet, but Mom was. I was still panting from the sun and this crazy walk that she dragged me on. So I showed her. As we were walking back, I made it look like I was stopping to pee on someone's mailbox, and I just laid down on their lawn! I wasn't moving. Mom kept telling me to get up and tried to pull me, but I'm stronger than her. She was embarassed because she didn't know the people that owned the lawn and didn't want them to get angry. I laid there on my stomach for 3 minutes, and then I rolled over on my side for another 5. Mom gave up, and decided that since she knew I wasn't going anywhere, she'd have to carry me home.

So that's what she did. She picked my 60lb butt up and carried me all the way back to our house. She was so tired when we finally got home that she flopped on the couch and fell asleep. I bet that's the last time she takes me on a long walk again! Next time maybe we'll just go for a car ride. I like those much better than walks! Snort, Leroy
