Homeopathic Treatment

Yesterday Mommy talked to a nice vet on the phone for a while. Apparently she's starting something called "homeopathic treatment" for me. She says that she hopes it'll help me be more confident and also fix my potty problems (I only like to go potty in our backyard--nowhere else!).

As part of this, Mommy has to keep lots of notes about how I'm behaving, so once I get my remedy dose, she can figure out exactly how things are changing. She's also been walking me around the neighborhood for 10-15 minutes on-leash when it's potty time so that she has a baseline for how I act, and we'll know if the remedy helps me potty.

So Mommy is going to write down how I act on our walks and any weird stuff that I do at other times. Apparently the vet said that we should take note of whenever my tail is between my legs, since this is a good indication of my state of mind, and we can use that as a measure of how well the remedy is working (i.e. is my tail between my legs more/less often after the remedy?). It should be interesting!

I'll try to keep all of you pups updated on my progress!

The Evil Water Demon and Tail Woes

Yesterday, Mommy and Daddy brought me outside with them while they cleaned the rats' cage. And then I saw it: Daddy brought out the evil water demon!

It's this long green snake-like thing, and it sprays water everywhere! The water demon kept trying to attack me, so I attacked back! I tried to snap it up in my mouth, but it evaded me. It moved a lot too, and even attacked me a few times. Eventually, when it wouldn't back down, I barked and lunged at it a lot. Mommy and Daddy were laughing at me, but I didn't care! It had to be destroyed!

Finally, I defeated it! It stopped attacking, and I stood there, panting and dripping wet. I was so proud of myself, and Mommy and Daddy were proud of me too! I had to be dried off, but it was worth it!

Today, my tail has been acting weird. It's staying down instead of curling up over my body like it usually does. It doesn't seem to hurt when Mommy and Daddy touch it. We're not sure what's wrong with it. I hope it feels better soon though. I love my tail!

An update!

I turned 8 months old yesterday! Mommy says I'm very well-behaved for an adolescent. I'm glad I make her proud. :)

This past weekend, Mommy went away for a few days. I missed her lots, but luckily Daddy was still here. He still gave me yummy food too! He also gave me my medicine...I was hoping he'd forget.

My weekend with Daddy was pretty uneventful, until we were playing with one of my balls. He threw it at me so I could catch it, and it hit my eye! I think he bruised it because it was hard to keep my eye fully open. He gave me lots of snuggles and said he was sorry. Luckily, by about 24 hours later my eye was back to normal. I forgive Daddy for giving me a black eye (even though the area around my eye is already black!). I still love you lots, Daddy!

I'm ALMOST done with my medicine. About another 10 days or so, says Mommy. Yay for being almost done with that yucky stuff!

Oh yeah, today I had pig brains for the first time! They were still partially frozen, and I loved them! So far the only thing Mommy has fed me that I wouldn't eat was smelt fish (they were icky!). Supposedly she's going to give me a salmon head soon. I hope that's not yucky like the smelt fish! Tomorrow though, I get my first pork hock. It's big! Mommy's going to take a video of me eating it. Mmm, I can't wait! I bet she won't let me eat all of it at once though. She doesn't want me to eat so much that I get runny poops. I don't care though; I love eating!

Well, it's time to go to bed now. Nighty everyone!

YAY!

Mommy and Daddy took me to the vet again yesterday. That wasn't too fun (except in the waiting room with all of the doggies...I wanted to play SO BAD but they wouldn't let me!). But the nice vet lady checked my skin again, and she said she couldn't find any more mites! Yay! I have to take one more month of the yucky medicine "just in case", and then I'm done! This is so exciting! :D

Today I got to eat some frozen yummy food and treats out of a toy called a Kong. It was pretty frustrating though...my tongue isn't long enough to reach all the way into the Kong. Mommy laughed at me and said something about me not understanding how to eat out of the Kong. She can laugh, but she doesn't know how hard it is not having opposable thumbs!

Anyway, naptime for me! I'm beat.

Hi!

I haven't written here in a while! Today Mommy took a lot of new pictures of me. I thought it was weird, but I let her do it. A couple of them are on my Dogster page now. Oh! And Mommy signed up for this thing called "Dogster Plus", which means I have cool borders around my pictures now, plus a bunch of other cool stuff. Yay!

Yesterday I turned 7 months old! Mommy says I'm getting to be a big girl now! Though really, I haven't grown too much since I came here, when I was 3.5 months old. Mommy says I'm at a great weight for my size, but that I seem to be a bit of a runt! I don't mind though, since it means I can still fit under the couch, hehe. Mommy says I'll grow bigger soon enough, and because I get the yummy raw food for my meals, I'm growing slower than most doggies (which is good news for my joints!). Though someone told Mommy I may not grow much more since my paws look like the right size for my body.

I'm still taking that yucky medicine for the mites. However, my fur is almost all grown back! That means that most of the mites should be gone now. I can't wait to stop taking this medicine. I'm still itchy though...Mommy thinks it's just my fur growing back that's making me itch. I hope so!

Yesterday I went to the dog park and played with a dog named Frisky. She kept pinning me down, but I fought back! It was a lot of fun. Later on I played with a dog that I think was a bulldog/pit bull mix. She was fun too! I love going to the dog park, even though it usually means I have to get a bath afterwards. I don't understand why humans care so much about dirt; they're silly!

Oh, a little while ago Mommy and Daddy decided to leave me out of my crate while they went out for a few hours. It was great! I was free! After scratching at the door for a while to see if they'd come back for me, I decided to chew up the corners of the coffee table and rip up some papers. Unforunately, Mommy and Daddy didn't like this game very much. Now I have to stay in my crate when they go out. I don't mind it too much though, since it's comfy.

Anyway, I guess that's it for now! Time to take a nap.

Ah, life!

This week Mommy and Daddy have started to leave me home alone while they're at work. That means I'm in my crate all day. I miss going into work with them! But they say I have to learn how to be by myself. Mommy did say that I get to go into work with them tomorrow though. Yay!

Oh, and the other day they forgot to leave the blinds open for me to look outside while they were out at dinner (they left me out of my crate). I had been alone in my crate all day, and they left me again! So I decided that I needed to see outside and tore up the blinds. Luckily, they weren't too mad at me. I felt bad for doing it, but I wanted to see outside really badly!

Hmm, what else. Oh yeah! Mommy bought me a new supplement called colostrum. She's read about it and it's really good for my immune system, which means it'll help me fight off those nasty mites that are eating me. Apparently its basically the pre-milk from cows, so it has a lot of antibodies and nutrients in it. And it works for all mammals! Mommy got me the powdered form of it and I love it! It's really tasty. Even she thinks it smells good!

Also, Mommy and Daddy have been leaving my crate door open at night (my crate is in their bedroom). They hoped I would come sleep on their bed, but I like mine better! I just stay in my crate all night, even though I could come out if I wanted to. Mommy thinks it's cute.

I guess that's it for now! Time to chase some moths in my dreams (I love catching moths and eating them...it's fun!).

I went to the doggie doctor again yesterday. She scraped my skin and she said that I still have those evil little mites on me, though there are fewer than before. She upped the dose of my medicine (yuck!) and we come back in a month for another mite test. I'm still pretty itchy. Mommy is getting worried that I'm not getting better yet. She doesn't like giving me medicine for something like this, but she's doing it anyway. She did buy me a supplement that will help my immune system a lot. It hasn't arrived yet though.

A lot of people ask what's wrong with me because I have so many bald spots. Mommy has to explain that I have mange, and everyone immediately thinks I'm gross! She tries to explain that it's not contagious to anyone, and all dogs have these mites, but some people are still grossed out by it. I just want them to keep petting me!

Oh, and I have two new pictures on here now! In one of them I'm waking up Mommy (well, that's what I was supposed to be doing...I just like to snuggle up with whoever I'm supposed to wake up, hehe), and in the other one I'm smiling after playing with some doggies in the office. They tired me out!

I guess that's all for now!

Evil Bugs and Plastic Collars

Mommy and Daddy took me to the doggie doctor two weeks ago because I was very itchy and was started to get bald spots. I had even made myself bleed in one spot! I didn't care too much (I like scratching myself!), but Mommy and Daddy did not like that I was so itchy.

It turns out that I have something called "demodex mange". I don't really understand it, but Mommy said it means that there are tiny little bugs in my skin that are making me itchy and lose my fur. I had this before Mommy and Daddy adopted me, and I got better, but now the evil bugs came back. :(

I am taking medicine for it (it's yucky, but I get a treat after I swallow it, so I manage), but Mommy and Daddy don't think I'm getting any better. They hope I do soon. My bald spots are very noticable and I have a lot of scabs from where I've been scratching myself. I still love playing with my parents and with other doggies (we have two pup pals, Logan and Rummel, here for a few days, and I LOVE playing with them!), and I'm still one very happy puppy, but Mommy and Daddy still feel bad for me.

Yesterday Mommy came home with a big plastic curved thing. I was interested at first, and she put it around my neck. ACK! SCARY! I couldn't move I was so scared of it! It made me so I couldn't turn my head. Mommy said it was so I wouldn't scratch myself, but she didn't realize how scary it was to wear! She took it off and I was so happy it was gone. But then she put it on again before bed! She had to carry me to my crate because I refused to move with that thing on me. I had to wear it all night, and even though I eventually moved a bit with it on, I hated it. I really hope she doesn't put it on me again tonight!

So that's my story right now. I don't really mind being itchy. It's inconvenient to have to scratch myself so often, but it doesn't slow me down any. After a quick nap I'm going to play with Rummel again. He thinks he can pin me but I win sometimes too! I can't wait until I'm big!

Whoa!

Did you guys know that there are DOGGIES inside the big thing on the wall? My mommy and daddy watch boring things on it sometimes, but today mommy was watching something called "Animal Cops" and there were doggies! As soon as I saw one I jumped up and barked at it to say hi! I don't think it heard me though, sadly. I even tried to jump up to get it (it was high up on the wall!), but mommy said I couldn't do that.

I never knew that thing was so interesting! I'll have to watch it more often. I hope I can meet more doggies again soon!

Yay!

Mommy and Daddy said that yesterday at their work, I was a good girl! I didn't go potty in the office or anything!

It was pretty weird being outside on the noisy street on my leash. I'm so used to being about to run around our backyard with no leash on that I wasn't sure what I should do! I wasn't too keen on going potty in that noisy place, but eventually I just couldn't hold it any longer and went (Mommy was proud of me). I definitely have to get used to this!

It was lots of fun to meet all of the new people at the office. One even gave me a stuffed hedgehog that squeaks and grunts! Thank you!

After work, Mommy and Daddy brought me to Mommy's old work. It's two pet shops that sell lots of yummy food. Mommy bought me some more of my yummy raw meat patties there. I also got to meet more doggies there! I love playing with other doggies.

Anyway, I'm sleepy, so I'm going to take a nap. I'll write again soon!
