Carpets

Some men came and sprayed some strange stuff all over the carpets this afternoon. It smelled really funny after they left and Mom finally let us out. Dad said the smell was called "clean." I fixed it. It doesn't smell clean anymore, at least in one spot.

I've been slandered!

I had to go visit my vet last week because I cut my foot on something in the back yard while I was on patrol, and Mom said I was leaving blood trails in the house. You would think that was cool, since I'm so macho, but she was scared. Women.

When my foot didn't get better by the weekend, I had to go back on Saturday wit Mom and Dad, and my vet took my toenail off. It hurt! Then, she wrapped my foot up really tight and made me wear a cone so I couldn't chew on it, not that I would.

Mom found out Monday that I could chew on it anyway because the cone wasn't that big - haha! You would think she would be proud of me for being able to beat the cone, but instead, she made me wear Bubba's old cone, and then I couldn't reach my foot anymore.

So, Dad took me to the vet today to have the bandage changed, but my regular doctor wasn't there. My new vet said my foot looks really good and I don't have to wear the bandage anymore! He said licking it isn't going to hurt it at this point, and letting it air out a bit would probably be good for it. He told Dad that letting it soak a couple of times a day and then drying it off would be a good idea. Dad looked relieved, but he told me that's going to make Mom crazy.

That's not the bad part.

While they were taking the bandage off, the staff said my foot smelled bad! Then, the doctor told my Dad I was stinky and I needed a bath! The nerve! Has he ever smelled Bubba?

I am not stinky. I am fragrant. I should sue.

Is it ever going to stop raining?

We have had a lot of rain - the water from the sky stuff. It seems like it's been raining forever, and I hate having to get my feet wet just to go potty. Mom has a couple of rooms with white grass, so I would much prefer to just go there, but for some reason, she gets really annoyed about it. Does it really matter if the grass is white instead of green and inside instead of outside? She needs to get a grip sometimes.

Dad's annoying!

Dad's working at home almost all the time now, and he's annoying! He and Mom leave tissues in baskets around the house, and they're perfect for shredding, but Dad almost always catches me before I can get away with one. Mom's easy to get past, but Dad put the basket under his desk! This is unfair. I wonder where I protest?

Thanks!

Thanks to everybody who has replied about Margaritas for Mutts so far. It's May 14, 2007, you know.

Dad said I got a lot more response on my blog than he did on his. I guess I'm just more popular! Woo hoo!

Mom and Dad founded Sparky's Pals (a 501(c)(3) corporation) in memory of my big brother Sparky, who went to the Bridge before I even got here. Bubba and Ripley said he was nice. I'm sorry I never got to meet him.

Sparky's Pals provides humane education - they teach children (mostly) how to behave safely around pets, and how pets should be treated, and why basic medical care, vaccinations and spay/neuter is important. However, providing education costs money! Mom and Dad came up with a interesting way to raise funds, so if you're going to be in the Dallas area on May 14, please join them!

Daylight Saving Time

My Dad said Daylight Saving Time starts this weekend and we're going to lose an hour. If anything gets lost around here, I usually get blamed, so I guess I'm going to be in trouble Sunday morning.

If he can't find it, Mom will look under the bed. That's where a lot of lost things seem to end up. Maybe I can blame Katie.

Lots of Happy People

I rode in the car yesterday, and we didn't end up at the vet. I didn't know the car could go anywhere else!

It turned out that Mom and Dad were taking me to the North Texas Irish Festival. It was a lot of fun! There were a lot of people there and they were all having a good time. It was LOUD. My ears are still ringing. The nicest people brought their dogs, too. Mom was annoyed that some of them weren't fixed. They didn't look broken to me, but Dad said he would explain it later.

There were some men in skirts, but Dad said they were "kilts." They looked like skirts to me.

There were lots of things to sniff, because a lot of other people brought their dogs, too. I met a couple of them, and they seemed nice. A lot of people came to say "Hello" to me, and rubbed my belly.

Mom's friend Amy went with us, and she took photos, but I haven't seen them yet. She was nice, but she didn't share any of her food. I like her, anyway.

When we all went to get food, it was so crowded, we had to sit with strangers! It looked like everybody was sitting with strangers, but they were all getting along. I don't know how people meet, because I didn't see any butts being sniffed. I think instead of that, they shake hands. That doesn't seem very sanitary to me.

I got to sit on the chair next to Mom while they ate dinner. Mom got me some of her French Fries. They were very tasty! I think the lady across from us was a bit surprised that Mom would eat half a French Fry and then give me the rest. I was surprised, too. Mom should have given me all of it! Dad gave me some of his fries, too.

After the surprised lady left, there were some other people sitting at the table with us, and they had stew. It looked really tasty, so I decided to practice my "sad puppy" eyes. It worked, because they gave me some of their bread. Woo hoo!

Later, Dad shared a grilled cheese sandwich with me. Actually, he shared two, because he likes them! He makes them at home, but these were better. He seemed a bit stressed when we got there, but he took some medicine called "Guinness" and then he was less stressed. He said he was worried about me in the crowd, but I can take on any dog! I'm rough and tough!

Well, I was rough and tough until Mom bought me a shirt that said "I"m so cute, I must be Irish." That was pretty bad. I don't mind dressing up (although I don't like it as much as Bubba does), but that was a bit much. I wanted the shirt that said "Big Mean Tough Killer Irish Puppy" but I guess they were out. Maybe I should have asked for one of those kilt things, instead.

Mom and Dad wanted to go listen to a band, so I got to go. It was really loud! At the end of one song, a dog on the other side of the crowd started singing, so I joined in. Mom told me to be quiet. I don't know why - I was in tune. Maybe she doesn't like music after all.

Mom said the St Patrick's Day Parade is coming up - I hope I get to go to that again. I went last year, and it was fun. Maybe I can wear my new shirt again. I hope Mom can get the pee out first.

Another month

It's another month, so that means Mom is going to try to sneak our monthly medicine in our food tonight. We usually just play along so she doesn't freak out. We don't want to hurt her feelings.

Ripley likes to take some of his pills and spit them out to see what Mom will put them in so he will eat them. He's gone from just pills in his food to bread to cheese to hot dogs! I could never do that with a straight face. He's my hero.

Allergy Shots

I've been getting allergy shots for a while now, and I like them because even though Mom sticks a needle in me, Dad lets me lick peanut butter off a spoon while she's poking at me. Peanut butter is really good! It's so tasty that Bubba volunteered to take my shot last time.
