Leave a bone for Daisy (2004 ♥ 2007)

Special Gift Box:

Nicknames: The Hound

Badges: Quick Bio:
 Gotcha Date: May 21st 2004
 Birthday: February 1st 2004
Likes: Playing fetch, running, sleeping under fleece blankies, my peeps (in that order). Oh... and I loves me some Fran and Herb. They transcend the 'like' list. :o)

Pet-Peeves: Smotherings and kisses - I need my space!!! I am rather aloof with other doggies, but will put up with the peeps and their molestations

Favorite Toy: Any type of chew toy - no preference to fabric, plastic, rope, but the latex ones lasted the longest

Favorite Food: Food?! I'm the Kate Moss of the doggie world... I eat like a bird, if I ate at all. It was impossible to make me eat. I am toy motivated, not food motivated, although I'd take filet mingon over kibble any day.

Favorite Walk: Anywhere where there are good sniffs to be had

Best Tricks: Sit, Stay, Fetch, (Lay) Down, Dance, Shake, High Five, Bow, Bang (play dead), Drop (a toy), and Catch (only works with cheese).

Arrival Story: The peeps had been talking about adopting a doggie for a couple of years, but never really took the plunge. They were driving by a pet adoption sponsored by the Animal Rescue of Stokes County. They stopped... 'just to look' and that's when the peeps first met me. I was just a tiny pup at 16 weeks. The peeps took me for a walk, signed the papers, had the home visit, and on the Memorial Day weekend in 2004, this hound had finally found her furever home.

Bio: This little 16 week pup was a bundle of energy... I would play hard and sleep hard. I absolutely LOVED to play fetch and would run up and down the hallway for as long as the peeps would throw the ball or rope tug. The peeps' would usually tire out before I did. As I grew up, my body filled out a little bit, but my legs just kept growing... and growing... and growing! The peeps called them my 'sticks'. My body grew into a skinny whippet frame, with a curly, yet fluffy basenji tail. But my legs went on and on forever. Every time someone would see me they'd comment on how much taller I had gotten.

Forums Motto: sweet angel

Stuff About Me:
I was abandoned, along with my two sisters, in front of the library steps. A nice lady Mona from Animal Rescue of Stokes County came by and rescued us. My sisters were adopted right away, but I stayed with a foster mom for about four months. I had a basset hound buddy named Stomper and we lived on a farm! My foster momma was still helping me look fur a furever home though.
My peeps met me at a pet adoption weekend. They took me for walkies and it was love at first sight. They couldn't resist my big doggie grin. I went home with them May 2004 - Memorial Day weekend.
The place I live at has a big back yard that opens up into the forest. There is plenty of wildlife for me to chase after: squirrels, groundhogs, possums, moles, wild turkeys, deer, and one time, even a cow that escaped a nearby farm!
Little Ms. Smarty Pants - that's what I am! I was house trained in almost two seconds flat. Seriously. I make a "yowl-y" / "yawn-y" yelp when I need to take care of business. I can pretty much go potty on command - although if I don't need to go, I still do a ceremonial squat to appease my peeps.
Sugar 'n' Spice and everything nice - that's what I'm made of! I think I am part whippet (I'm really really skinny, deep chest, and gots da long sticks), some basenji (cute wrinkles, coloring, curly tail and vocalizations), and all hound (I love to sniff & chase anything that moves). I'm a total sight hound! I love to RUN RUN RUN!
WooF? Since I am part basenji, my peeps didn't know if I could bark, but BOY oh BOY! Can I! I didn't really start to bark until I was about two years old though. I also make lots of monkey noises too when I'm excited and happy - Ooo Ooo! AaaH AaaH! And when playing with my daddy, I make high pitched excited YIP YIP YIPs!
My To Do List: I need to work on my greetings... I get WAY too excited - I literally VIBRATE! I like to jump on people so I can give 'em kisses on da lips! I've narded a few guys in my attempts to kiss 'em. Woops! Sorry doods.
Squeakie Toys - I love 'em!!! I love to destroy 'em! I'll chew 'em up and spit 'em out even when the squeaker's broken. I also love to run! Night time brings out the wild hound in me and I will do zoomies around the backyard. I love to chase anything that moves! I'm a sighthound through and through.
The Rainbow Bridge ~ Daisy lost her fight against cancer and passed away on Tuesday, July 31st, 2007. She was surrounded by love during her final days. She was a one-of-a-kinda girl... she will always be remembered. She was our first dog. She was *that* dog. The once-in-a-lifetime-dog that you never ever forget.

Today would have been my guesstimate woofday here on earth. :o) The peeps remember all the silly and standoffish things I did as a pup... and I *still* make 'em smile at the memories. But today, it's been especially hard for my momma cos she misses me a lot. I know she's got that brute Ella to keep her company, but I was her first dog. And there can only be one first. And I was it. Thank you for remembering me, pals. It makes me happy and loved.

That's 25 in human years (...or 98 in Hollywood years)! Ralph Macchio plans to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary by renewing his vows with wife Phyllis - and writing a book about his amazing marriage.
Macchio wed Phyllis Fierro in April, 1987 and he's planning a big bash to celebrate the anniversary next year - but he also wants to give others the chance to see how it's possible to make a Hollywood marriage work.
He tells Life & Style magazine, "We're talking about renewing our vows. That would be really nice. We have a lot to celebrate; we've been through so much. We've earned it."
And Macchio insists the couple's secret is simple: "Commitment... Believing that you're meant to be together and knowing at the end of the day that this is the person I should be with."

David Hasselhoff is convinced he has special healing powers after a motivational message he recorded for a sick young boy helped the youngster come out of a coma.
He is adamant he has saved thousands of lives through positive thinking and recalls one time he spoke in the voice of his "Knight Rider" character Michael Knight in a bid to help an ill child.
He tells Britain's BBC Radio Five Live, "The upside of being in showbiz is being able to hold the hand of a kid who is dying, you know.
"I did a tape for a kid saying, 'Hey buddy, it's Michael Knight, Michael Knight, come on, wake up, wake up, wake up'.
"The phone rang and they said, 'Remember that kid you did the tape for that was hit at that crosswalk in London? Well we played the tape for him and he came out of the coma.'
"I went, 'Whoa, whoa'. He said, 'We played it once'. I met the kid at the hotel afterwards. I don't want to be corny or anything but that's happened to me a thousand times all around the world because it can affect people in a positive way." »
