Arrival Story:
My husbands co-worker was moving and could not keep Pokey, & he asked if we would take him. My husband said the guy was near tears because he didn't want to send Pokey to the pound. Reluctantly, we agreed to take him. Now we cannot imagine life without him. He is the most loving, sweet, funny dog and he makes us all happy.

Bio:
I was originally purchased at a pet store. The breeder was trying to make some sort of mini boxer type. Im small like a beagle, but I have an underbite and a big barrel chest! My chest is somewhat out of proportion and it makes it hard to swim. So when it's hot, I love to play with the hose! I love sprinkers, too. I also like to sit on the couch and watch TV with the fam! I kick my feet back just like dad. I find it hard to stay awake though, and I nod off quite a bit. *Pokey*

Happy Birthday to Me!

It's my birthday! I'm the big thirteen today! I wonder what mom and dad have planned for me? Hopefully some cake... or at least a bite of cake... Im such a happy guy and I still feel like a puppy. Even though today I tried to jump up on the bed and I didn't quite make it. I jumped a little too low and body slammed into the side. My mom was so upset, but I was o-kay. I just needed some extra petting.

I got my toofers cleaned today. About a month ago, my big brother called my mom to say I was bleeding. That was on account'a my toof falling out. My dad took me to this really nice vet lady, and she said I should get my toofers cleaned. So I went today. I wasn't very happy and when Dad picked me up, I was pretty confused. But now I'm fine and mom says I have a Colgate Smile! I got four toofers pulled though. Mom was kinda sad 'cause they pulled my two front bottom toofs that stuck out. But she says I still have a reallwy cute under-bite! And now my bref is so good!

I smile a lot, especially when my parents come home. And my big brother always makes me smile cuz he loves me!

So don't be scared to get yur toofers cleaned. It's not so bad.

BE CAREFUL OF ICY PONDS! By Pokeys Mommy

The saddest thing happened in our area yesterday. A young woman was out walking her two dogs and they ran into a frozen pond. We don't ever get this cold in the DFW area so it's really unusual for everything to be so frozen. Well, the woman went in after her dogs and they all died. I was so heart-broken. I have been sad about it all day. Any one of us dog lovers would do the same! She had a third dog that led rescuers to the pond. That dog has since run away, probably because he is so scared. His dog-daddy just wants him back. Let's all say prayers for his safe return.

And everyone be careful about letting your pups run near icy ponds and pools. Our pool was frozen solid and I let Pokey out, just a little worried he may slip and fall in. Now I will accompany him outside.
