Arrival Story:
i've never owned a dog before and have always wanted a german shepard but my mother and sister are allergic. i heard about the rhodesian and how they maintain a short soat with little dandur, so i checked it out and my mom tried being aorund the dogs at the breeder's house (she had about 10-15 ridgebacks living with her) and not only did she not have any reaction she also really liked all the puppies. i went into this not thinking that i was going to show and/or breed the dog and i told the breeder of this. she was only willing to sell one of her four remaining boys because all of them were show quality and aeneas, the one she wanted to sell me, was bigger than standard and so if one was going to be a house pet then she wanted it to be him. i liked aeneas because of his potential size and because of his disposition. of all the puppies he was the only one not running around like a cracked out shicken with its head cut off. since then he has steadily grown into a well behaved and confident dog.

aeneas is the son of ch shabani hi-calibur (reva, dam) and ch shabani greenboy (kobe, sire). both dogs have been shown at westminster and placed within the top ten of the breed. aeneas's uncle, rocky ridge caught'n'a'x-fire (rebel), took an honorable mention at westminster this past year. if aeneas is to be shown, he'll be showing under the name rocky ridge's hero of troy. the breeder estimates that aeneas will be very big for the breed. his paws are huge, his tracks look like a wolf's, and we think he's gonig be about 30 inches tall at the withers and around 120-130 pounds. for rhodesian, aeneas is very calm. he rarely gets hyper except when he's playing. in the hundreds of contacts he's had with people and dogs he's never shown any signs of aggression or behaved innapropriately...but he also is a typical rhodeisn in that unless you're giving him food then he has little interest in you and he can be extraordinarily...shall we say, independant.
