Arrival Story: Sherlock was found in the subways of NYC when he was a very small pup. Another owner had him for 6 months, but gave him up because he was too hard to handle. I got him at that point and he was difficult for a while, but we came to an understanding and we did well

Bio: Sherlock died March 15, 2005 of pericarditis (fluid around his heart). We miss him...
Whether Sherlock was a harrier is a bit of a contention among "the powers that be" in the world of harriers. There are so few harrier litters in the US it's unlikely a well-bred harrier would be found in the subways of NYC at such a young age. Since he was resuced it's impossible to say, but he looked like a harrier, he acted like a harrier (was very interested in holes), he met the breed standard (down to the unique nature of how harrier's coats are supposed to be), and our understanding is that harrier mixes don't look so much like harriers. Our guess is that there was a puppy mill somewhere that was breeding unregistered harriers, but we'll never know.
