Arrival Story:
After months of deliberation and searching, I located Andie at the Woodford County Humane Society. I immediately fell in love, we took Dar to meet her, they hit it off almost immediately. We filled out the adoption papers and a week later after she had been spayed, we brought her home with us!

Bio:
Andie's name at the shelter was "Tundra", however she didnt respond to that name so we didnt feel bad about re-naming her. We really thought she was part husky when we adopted her, but as time goes on, we think she is mostly lab and shepherd mixed... maybe a TINY bit husky. But, that doesnt really matter, we love her all the same... but she did come with some shepherd habits that huskies dont typically have. She came to knowing how to sit. She has since learned down, shake and high five. She loves to run and chase balls. She also loves to tear up fabric... a habit that we are working on breaking her of. She is learning that only chewy toys are appropriate toys.... but this is after she has torn up our grill cover, a couple of rugs, numerous socks and washclothes. She is also sneaky, but she is improving everyday that she spends with us. She is getting good at running beside our Springer bike attachment and that is great because she is just one big ball of energy!!! Andie is now almost fully over her fabric chewing obsession. She only chews on toys now... and maybe an occasional sock. She loves to run up and goose her brother in the butt. He hates it. She also likes to jump over or off of his head. She also loves to bark at strangers, while her brother growls at her; he loves strangers and hates it that she scares them off. It is quite amusing, although our neighbors think we have two mean dogs, when really we just have one who scolds the other and one who is scared of new things!

Trying to keep Dar in line....

The baby isnt a "treat", you silly man-dog

Mom and Dad have been discussing the baby a lot. Dar thinks it is a treat or toy of some sort. I have been trying to tell him that it means that our lives will change forever and that a new human will be added to the pack... but he is stubborn and wont believe me. Mom says that I am very maternal and that when the baby comes she is sure that I will be excellent. And I have already warned Dar that if he growls at the baby, even under his husky breath, there may be a duel on the back porch. I will not stand for grumpy old man behavior around the new baby. I also fully intend to lick the baby, a lot. Even though Mom said I might have to cut back a little bit on the licking.

Although, I am wondering where this new baby will live. I wonder if the baby will want to sleep on my dog bed with me? Oh, Mom just told me that babies and dogs dont generally sleep on the same bed. She said that I might have to give up my futon so the baby crib will fit in the spare room. Oh how I love that futon.... it is so fun to roll around on....

Anywoooo, I got to get back to chewing on my Kong. Talk at you all later!
