Arrival Story: As told by mommy:
When my husband and I got married, he promised me that we would get a dog. I never had a pet growing up and always wanted a dog. For months we considered rescue, the SPCA, and even breeders. We weren't sure exactly which breed we wanted and finding a rescue place willing to give first time pet owners with full time jobs a chance was very difficult.
On Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 I saw a Chihuahua on the Delaware SPCA website. I convinced my husband to meet me at the SPCA after work to look at her. When I got there, I was sad to find out she had been adopted, but right before I was about to give up, I noticed an adorable Pomeranian begging for attention. I took him out for a walk and the SPCA employees explained that his name was Milo and he had just been dropped off by an elderly woman who could no longer care for him. My husband, who wasn't convinced that now was the right time for us to adopt a dog, and I both fell in love with Milo. I didn't care that his hair was matted or that he would shed all over our house and car. After 10 minutes we decided to adopt him. We filled out the paperwork just before the SPCA closed for the day and we drove home with him in the backseat. He wagged his tail as if he had known us his whole life. Since we hadn't planned on getting him that day, we went to our local petstore and spent a small fortune getting supplies for him.
Everyone loves Milo. He has adjusted well to our schedules and our home and everyone gives him a lot of attention and love. He's been professionally groomed and he has a clean bill of health. He's truly a blessing and a great addition to our family!

Well, Mommy took me to the vet last week and Mommy was sad to learn that I have gained 4 pounds! I weigh 18.3 pounds and Mommy and the doctor say that is way too much for a pomeranian, even a big one, like myself. The doctor said I need to lose 4 pounds.
Daddy didn't believe that I needed to lose weight. Daddy and I love eating snacks together. Daddy gives me extra food when I'm really hungry and sometimes he even lets me eat some of his snacks. But he had to listen to Mommy when she brought home the "diet" food. You know what? I love the diet food! It tastes really yummy. I just wish Mommy would give me more.
So Mommy says I need to lose some weight this year. It's kind of not fair that Zelda gets to eat regular food and sometimes she gets treats and I don't.
Oh, and Mommy, Daddy, and Grandmom took Jonesie, Zelda, and me to get our pictures taken on Saturday! I didn't like the flash, so I ran away. Mommy said our picture came out really nice and she can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. Daddy and I don't understand why Mommy wants a picture of us, it's kind of silly.

I have finally found a new place in the house where Zelda will leave me alone. Mommy's bathroom! It's dark and cool and has a hard floor and one fluffy rug. I just love it in there.
I didn't discover Mommy's bathroom until Mommy and Daddy went to Bermuda and left me with Uncle Ken for the week. I didn't like that Uncle Ken didn't let me sleep in Mommy and Daddy's room so I decided to just camp out in Mommy's bathroom. Well, that's the place to be!
Zelda can't find me and it's nice and quiet. I don't mind if Mommy uses the bathroom, I just get out of her way. As soon as she's finished, I just come right back in. When Zelda tries to come into my new room, I bark at her and tell her to get out of my space. I don't think Mommy likes me doing that, but I'm the big brother and I deserve my own room!
I remember when I first moved in with Mommy and Daddy and I was afraid to explore the house. Now I go everywhere, upstairs, downstairs, even the laundry room in the basement! When Mommy comes home, sometimes she can't even find me. I can't help it. A dog needs his privacy every now and then.

Milo,
You are our first dog and our first "baby". I wanted a dog for years and your daddy and I are so grateful to have found you at the SPCA. We were really stressed with the daily routine of work and bills, but then on February 1, 2006, I decided to stop by the SPCA on the way home from work. It must have been fate, because your previous owner had just dropped you off. Daddy wasn't convinced that it was the right time to add a pup to the family, but I fell in love and your Daddy gave in. Now you're Daddy's boy - you two are inseperable!
We're so proud of how you've excelled in your classes and we're happy that we've bonded and become family. You know that you're the most handsome pup in town and everyone knows you. You even inspired us to adopt your "sister", Zelda, in July. We're proud of you for being a good big brother and teaching her how to be part of a real family.
Our home is so much livelier with you around. Milo, you got us out of our home and our everyday routine and out into the neighborhood and the pet loving community. Thanks, Milo, for making our days anything but ordinary! This is a special Tail of Devotion
