Arrival Story:
Django was bred to be a show dog and did the dog show circuit with his breeder until he was about a year old. Shockingly, didn't win best in show every time, so she retired him and he lived in a kennel behind her house until I came and rescued him. Hard to imagine he'd never slept in a warm bed before I brought him home!
Bio:
He's broken both of his front legs, a common problem with the breed, even the relatively robust and healthy IGs bred by responsible breeders. Anyone considering getting an Italian Greyhound should be sure to do as much research as possible. They're cute, but they're not the easiest dogs to have! They also need daily teeth brushing (or they'll lose them) and weekly nail trimming (or they'll be hobbled). And please--don't buy from pet stores! They support irresponsible puppy mill breeders that lead to an overall decline in the health of the breed. Thanks for listening, and thanks for coming to see Django!
