Arrival Story:
Esther was one of 12 "show and tell" puppies in my second grade classroom. My student asked me if I wanted a puppy. I said if the merle with a split face was still available at the end of the year then I would take her. Esther then came to live in our household. We already had two older 90 lb. lab mixes. Though Esther out grew both dogs very quickly, she was still at the bottom of the pecking order.

Couple years later, Sadie and Bear passed away. Esther now has a little brother, Nicholas Little Bear, who is a lab-akita mix.

Esther had a fairly long life of 9 1/2 years. On 10/14/08 she became sick with the bloat and we had to put her down. She was very healthy until then. She could still out run most of the dogs at Chatfield. Her brothers and sisters and well as her parents miss her very much.
