Arrival Story:
Our vet had Gizmo as an owner turn-in. The "owners" were some unfortunate people who lived out of their vehicle and then in a cheap motel - until it burned. He had horrible flea allergies and an eye infection. He had been shaved and the eye treated and was on prednisone for the flea allergies when we took him. We tried crate training, and he would bark non-stop every second he was in the crate, in addition to doing his business in there even though we tried to make it small enough that he couldn't. Not being able to speak to him or otherwise get his attention, he would not house train, and he prefers to be outdoors in the garage with the cats, so that's where he stays. He has an insulated house with a heat source for winter, and he's perfectly happy with his existence. He bounces around like "Barkley" off of Sesame Street, and is the same color, so that's his nickname.
