MinMin, Minster, and Squeakers
June 21st 1992
She always loved being surrounded by my family..she LOVED getting all of our love and attention! She also enjoyed going camping...she loved going on the beach and taking long hikes through the woods!
She absolutely HATED when people would touch her toys. She also wasn't a big fan of young children!
She favored her ice cream toy squeaker. We keep all of her toys in a special place. :)
There was a campground that my family used to go to called PJ Hoffmaster. She loved walking through the woods here so much we nicknamed the place 'Minnie's World!"
She was able to walk around on her hind legs for over a minute, but I'd say to say her best trick was giving "the look!" :)
I was only about 1 and a half when Minnie came into my life, so I don't remember much, but I have been told that my parents were at the mall shopping for birthday gifts for each other in early September of 1992. There was an animal shelter near the mall at the time, so my parents took my older sister and me to look at the puppies. When we entered the building, I was told that my mom started to tear up and all she could do was point at one of the cages, it was our Minnie. My dad asked one of the employees if we could take the little Silky Terrier out and play. It was love at first sight. My dad ended up getting Minnie for my mom's birthday! :)
Minnie had a cyst near her eye, so we took her to the vet to have it removed. Before the operation, she stopped breathing, but the vet quickly revived her, however, he determined it was unsafe to operate, so the vet decided to wait a few weeks before attempting the surgery again. Minnie never had the chance to have that operation. The following week her health deteriorated...she became so weak she couldn't walk or eat by herself. Then my family had to make the hardest decision of our lives. Deep down inside we knew we couldn't let her suffer, even though it would break our hearts, my family decided that we should end her suffering and have her put to sleep. However, Minnie was never euthanized. On the morning of December 5, 2005 our beloved friend of 13 years passed on with the comfort of my family surrounding her. She will forever be missed!

It's almost been five years since I've felt the gentle touch of my family. I miss them so much, but I hope they find comfort knowing that I am watching over them. Today, I was watching the Earth from the Heavens and felt that I should post this poem that I feel is true! I hope you enjoy and please pass it on!
A Dogs Wish -
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend for no heart in all the earth is more grateful for kindness than ours.
Do not break my spirit with blows or words, though I will lick your hand between them, your patience & understanding teach me more than your anger.
Speak to me often for your voice is the sweetest music, as you must know by my tails fierce wagging.
Please keep me inside for I am no longer wild & I ask for no more than to sit with you.
Though if you had no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest in the warmest home in the entire universe for you are my friend.
All I ask is that you keep my dish filled, for although I should not reproach you were it empty, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst or hunger.
I only ask of this so that I may stay well to romp and play and walk by your side to stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should you or those you love be in danger.
And dear friend, should the Great One see fit to deprive me of my health, sight or make me feel pain that I do not understand, do not turn me away, rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me merciful release from this earth and eternal rest with our maker.
I will miss you then and wait for you to join me.
As I leave this body I will be comforted knowing, even with my last breath,
I was ever safest in your warm arms.
I missed all of my dogster friends, I hope we get to talk more! :)
