Arrival Story:
Peri worked as a vet tech when one day a couple from Florida showed up with Lucy (then named Trouble by them). They told her this story:
They were driving from Florida to New Jersey and stopped on route 95 at a rest stop and saw little Lucy tied to a dumpster. They waited for 6 hours to see if anyone showed up; maybe it was an accident. No one showed; so they took her. When they went to board their own dog at a kennel, as they were staying with family; the owner wouldn't take Lucy without shots but recommended the veternarian where Peri worked.
As Peri was helping with Lucy, who not only needed shots but had some parasites on her ears from rats, she bent down by the exam table and Lucy pawed her head to get her attention. Peri was enamoured. The people from Florida already had 6 dogs at home so they asked if Peri knew anyone who might consider adopting. Peri couldn't have a dog at the time where she lived so she introduced me to Lucy (the name Peri gave her, although Trouble continued to be fitting for quite a long time). Lucy was about 5 months then. I've lived with her for about 11 years now.
Bio:
Lucy used to like to swim in the inground pool in Florida; now she settles for the canal or lakes and streams. She's toured Savannah and swam in most of the fountains. She ate a twin blade razor as a puppy with no resultant cuts - she didn't even notice but liked all the rice she got to eat as per doctors orders. She jumped off a 15 foot high bank and landed on the river's bank but was mostly fine; just a little bruised. She could have run for Mayor in Highland Park and likely won the election. She has a lot of human friends and a few dog pals. She goes to doggie day care now during the week days with Barley.
