Arrival Story:
one day I went to the local shelter, I often visit just to give the dogs a little personal attention and while there I saw an amazing little Border Collie cross. She was so energetic and cute but I really needed to discuss it with my family as we had recently lost our German Shepherd to bloat. We decided another dog would be a good addition to our household. Our Australian Shepherd was 10 years old but still very active and able to deal with a pup joining her family. I went back the next day to get her and found she was already adopted. Before leaving I decided to make one last pass through the kennels just to visit the dogs there. Our older dog was a very alpha female so the only option for me was a puppy. Bringing in an adult dog was a recipe for disaster. I did not see any puppies so I went out to my car very disappointed. Off to the side of the office is a big grassy area and under a tree they had placed a portable play yard. inside were two adorable Australian Cattle dog puppy girls. I found out that they had JUST become available for adoption. I called my daughter, she came over and we sat for about an hour playing with the girls. ACD's can be very hyper but both pups were so sweet. After a while it became clear that Baylee had chosen US. We brought her home that day and she has been the best Baylee in THE WORLD ever since!!

Baylee ended up in the local animal shelter before her little eyes had even opened. Some irresponsible totally lacking in feelings and integrity low life person DUMPED her poor pregnant mother in the upper park to fend for herself and deliver her pups alone. A good Samaritan captured the pups easily because their eyes were not yet open, but the mother would not be caught so she was left to survive alone. The pups were not in very good shape, infested with hook worms, diarrhea malnutrition and various parasites, they struggled for their lives. When I got Baylee I was told she was parasite clear but at her Vet check it was determined she still had hookworms. It was a good month before she would actually test clear for good. During that time she was with me around the clock. She easily crate trained and bonded very close to me and still is my constant shadow. She is very people friendly but quite aloof to other dogs, although she is not the least bit aggressive with them she just does not feel the need for canine company. Her mother was finally captured but ended up being euthanized because she bit someone during her capture. Without a rabies shot record and now with a bite history it was determined she was not safe for adoption. Fortunately I was able to see her while she was still in quarantine. She had the same physical stature and the tone of her bark was exactly the same as Baylee. It was a shame that such a young beautiful dog would have to end her life that way just because some human lacked the responsibility to give her the life she deserved. Baylee is spayed and living the life her mother never had the chance at. Baylee is the best dog in the world!

Well it has been almost a year now since Mom brought home that spoiled little grey pup she calls Magee. I don't know why she is here, aren't I enough??? I just have to spend all my time making sure that busy body pup stays out of trouble and keeps off my bed! boy oh boy, at least she looks like my breed. I know that stock dogs are the best and at least she isn't another great big nasty cat!! Cats just don't understand.

Wow spring is here!

it has been a long hard winter for most animals this year, but not for me because I have a nice warm cushy bed right next to my people! Mom wants me with her all the time and I love to be right with them all the time too, because then I don't miss out on anything. gotta be in on everything yup yup yup I hafta keep those CATS in line too! They are always getting on my bed and attacking my toys. YUK CAT BREATH!

My doggy cousins came to visit and we all went to the park for a run. They always bring their people too. Such fun sniffing everything, chasing the ball, more sniffing, jumping into the lake and new dogs to meet on the trail!! Tuff gets to wear the back pack with water, cookies & toys in it (because he is the biggest old lab dog in the pack) Cricket is the slowest basset/corgie/ short legged dog (she has really short funny legs and when I run fast ...and boy can I ever run FAST....she tries to chase me but she never can catch me) then there is Roxie the youngest girl. She is a black-tri Aussie who only THINKS she can run as fast as me. I am still the fastest sprinter but Roxie can run a longer time than me because she is only 1 1/2 years old and I will be 6 this fall. I am very happy she is finally grown up. I like to play with her now but I did NOT like her when she was a puppy. She had sharp teeth and was always biting me. She was too little for me to bite her back.

Big boy Tuff is slowing down (he is about 9 now) and that worries me sometimes because even though I don't show it, I really love him. He taught me how to be brave in the yard whenever strangers come. When I meet strangers alone they scare me and it makes me pee sometimes. I might never be as brave as Tuff but he is trying to teach me.
gotta go, someone is trying to get my SQUEEKY! THAT DUMB CAT!! rrrr- woof!
