Guess what... it's my GOTCHA DAY today!

Hi Gang!

Boy it's been awhile since mom has helped me get on dogster. We've been busy that's for sure. But mom made sure that I got on here today. WHY? Because it's my GOTCHA DAY! Six years ago today mom & dad (well actually mom & gramma) picked me up from my old house and took me to their house. Mommy always tells me the story because she and Gramma were worried how I would transition into my new surroundings. Well, they had NOTHING to worry about because as soon as I got there, I went RIGHT in my sister Ginger's kennel and started rolling around making myself comfortable. I guess Ginger was giving me an evil eye but I didn't care, I just KNEW I was going to be in a better place for the rest of my life. And, I was right!! Ginger is nice to me now (although sometimes she bites me, chases me, and teases me), and I get to hang out all day long with no distractions. Mom & dad feed me 3 times a day, I get treats when they leave (and sometimes treats when I pee outside) and SOMETIMES I get to visit gramma and grampa! They give me treats and food ALL THE TIME. And sometimes my aunt comes to see me too, and I love her, she smells good and always has treats for me.

So anyway, I hope all of you are having dog-tastic days today. I know I am!

A Dog's Life: Happy Birthday to Me!

WELL..... guess what. It's my birthday today! Happy birthday to me! Actually, my mommy calls it my "gotcha day" because this is the day they rescued me from my previous life.

I have lived with mom and dad now for 5 YEARS. WOWEE. My mom can't believe it. My life now is just great. And mom says I'm such a good boy now.

Mom and dad give me treats every day, I love to eat and they feed me, my sister Ginger is great (except when she snaps at me), and Gramma, Grampa and my Aunt are just the best ever, I love going to visit them and they visit me too. And my NY gramma grampa and family are great too, as are all my mom and dad's friends who come to visit me. I also get to chase squirrels and eat acorns out in the backyard, and lay in the sun too.

Mom and dad don't know my real birthdate since they are my third owners. I keep trying to remember for them, but I just can't remember. It's OK by me though because I love my life now and would never go back.

I hope all of you have a dog-tastic day, and I wish all the rest of you celebrating birthdays today great birthdays too. I hope you all have it as great as I do!!

Our pal Bodie and I'm getting my teeth cleaned

Hey everyone! Guess what, our dogster pal Bodie was in Williamsport last week, and we finally got to meet him - nose to nose! It was way cool! I get a little nervous around new people, but I warmed up to Bodie's mom, dad and uncle. Mommy told me later on that Bodie found a dead squirrel in the park. I'm so mad she didn't tell me when I was there because I would have had a lot of fun with that squirrel!

Also mommy told me that I'm getting my teeth cleaned tomorrow. I hope it goes OK. I've never had my teeth cleaned before. Mommy tries to brush every once in awhile but the vet told me I really should have them spruced up. So wish me luck everyone!

We were in the newspaper!

Guess what. Me and Ginger's picture was in the local newspaper the Sunday after Thanksgiving! We went to the SPCA to get our picture taken with Santa (mommy was the photographer). Well a photographer from the paper was there to take pictures of the fundraiser and took some pictures of us. And we made it in the paper!! I was trying to get out of Santa's arms, and Ginger was, well, being perfect as usual. She bugs me sometimes.

I got stung by a bee

I got stung by a bee yesterday at gramma and grampa's house! I lifted my leg to pee on a bush and a bee came out and stung the inside of my leg! Mommy and Gramma were really worried. I was holding up my leg and walking very slowly. It was really scary because I hurt so bad and didn't know what to do about it. They called the vet and they said to keep an eye on me.

Well of course I'm a tuff guy and although my leg hurt real bad, I came around and had no swelling, I wasn't sick. AND this morning I'm back to my old self!! Yay!

HEY GANG, SO I'VE BEEN TAGGED! I LOVE GAMES! HERE ARE MY 7 PAWSOME FACTS (although of course I have many more than 7 :) don't we all!)

1. I'm famous! Me and my sister Ginger won PetSmart's national howl-o-ween photo contest in 2005, and we were the "spokesdogs" for the 2006 contest!! (see my pictures!).

2. I love to lay in the sun! Inside wherever I can find a sun spot, and outside I love to lay on the flagstone when it's really really warm!

3. I love to eat! I'll eat anything except olives. I spit those right out.

4. I LOVE to sleep in! I savor any chance I get to sleep for a few more minutes.

5. I can do some tricks! I can sit, shake, lay down and sit up! Mommy wants you to know that because they are my third family and they are thrilled that I listen to them (when I want to of course).

6. I'm an engineer according to my mommy. I think that means I can get into anything, anywhere, and figure things out when I put my mind to it. Mommy wasn't happy the two times I dumped the trashcan over and pulled out every bit of trash throughout the kitchen and dining room. She couldn't believe little me could do that. WELL... I showed her!!

7. I love toys! I just don't love to share them....

Happy Birthday to Me!

Hey Everyone! Guess what, mommy told me that my birthday was on March 22!! It's not my real birthday because I don't know when I was born. But mommy celebrates what she calls my "gotcha day" which was March 22nd 3 years ago!

Time flies when you're having fun. Mommy says that I was really thin when they got me, and my coat was dull. but not anymore! I'm handsome as ever and in spectacular shape! Mommy keeps me trim and says its to keep me healthy.

Also mommy can't believe I've been here for 3 years. when they got me the vet told them that I was 2-4 years old. So this year means I'm 5-7 years old, which would average out to 6. Mommy tells me I'm getting a bit of a gray goatee so she thinks I could be 7 years old. We dunno, but mommy says I had a pretty tough life before I came to live with them, and maybe i'm getting prematurely gray because of my trauma.

Anywhoo my birthday was GREAT!!!! I got treats and treated like a king. I guess I get that everyday. Oh well, it was a great day! Everyday is great!!

hey Gang! Just wanted to say hi. Mommy's been really busy so I haven't been able to get online much here on dogster. Hope all my pals and everydog on dogster is doing well.

Not much new here. Except we have SNOW right now. Lots of it, big storm. The snow is taller than I am, and you know what, I dog-not like snow one bit. It hurts my paws.

Mommy took me and Ginger to the groomer about 2 weeks ago. Mommy was worried I was going to be bad, but the groomer lady told mommy afterwards that I was a sweetie. I don't know why she thinks I'd be bad.

So anyway gang, I need to get going. Sorry I don't have much to say, except I'm trying real hard to stay warm these days! Hope you're all doing great!!!

Mommy says I've been bad

Mommy says I've been bad. I don't think so. Let me explain.

So mommy and daddy took me and Ginger down to Gramma and Grampa's house on Friday. I LOVE to go visit them, but when we got there, there was a tiny little dachshund there laying in MY snuggle ball. And THEN that little dog was chewing on TOYS. But that dog didn't understand that ALL TOYS ARE MINE.

SO I snarled at the puppy and then mommy put me in my kennel. When she let me back out they must have put the toys away. WELL, I still didn't like the fact that the puppy was still there, so I dominated her and told her who was boss (that's me of course). The puppy yelped but I didn't care. Then mommy put me back in my kennel. Not fair.

Well then mommy & daddy left and this lady showed up at the house. Luckily she was taking that puppy home with her, because I didn't like how much attention Gramma and Grampa were giving to that dog. The lady, named Judy, came over to my kennel to see me, because she likes stubby nosed dachshunds like me. So she opened my kennel door to see me, and I bit her finger.

You see, I don't think I did anything wrong because Gramma & Grampas house is really MINE, and all the snuggles and toys are MINE, and they shouldn't be allowing other dogs and people into MY territory. So I had to show them who is in charge there.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Happy Hallowiener Everyone!

Hello dogster! Just wanted to say HAPPY HALLOWIENER to everyone and give all of you an update on me, of course! Lots has been happening in my world.

Our Visitor, Lucky
Last Friday mommy came home with another dog. She was calling him "Lucky" - he was the same, yet different, than us. He had long hair, was smaller than me and Ginger, and he was also white and brown. Must have been some foreign kind of doxie. Anyway at first I wasn't thrilled he was at our house. I'd try to play with him and he'd back away, I didn't like that. My tail wags alot and I accidentally kept hitting Lucky and he seemed confused. Mommy said that he is a "double dapple" and he's blind in 1 eye and deaf in 1 ear, whatever that means.

Lucky sat with my mommy on our chair for awhile and I got jealous so I jumped on the chair beside them. Lucky started sniffing me, and licked me a little bit, and he also laid his head on my back. I was really excited to have a new friend like Lucky, but then mommy left with him and I haven't seen him since. You can see a picture of him here in my photo book!!!

Mommy told me she drove him to a doxie foster home in Binghamton NY, where he will stay until he finds a "forever" home like I have now. So i'm really happy for Lucky but will miss him.

AND GUESS WHAT.... good news already came to mommy today. Lucky has ALREADY found his forever home! In 1 week, we can't believe it! He will have an older doxie companion (she's a therapy reading dog) who is also deaf and going blind. And he will become a therapy reading dog for children with his new family, and will still get to see his foster mom regularly at the reading events. Yay for my pal Lucky!!!

Happy Halloween!
Well it's halloween time, seems to be my mommy's favorite holiday. She dresses me and Ginger up. Ginger likes it; I tolerate it but would really prefer to be "nude" like I always am. This year she dressed us up in Oktoberfest costumes - I'm sure you've seen our pictures. I didn't mind the shirt, but I did mind the pants! I wiggled out of them in no time.

Sadly we weren't selected as finalists in PetSmart's competition this year; you know we won a grand prize last year. Actually we were the poster dogs for this yea'rs contest which was pretty cool. We were on the home page for over a month, isn't that neato.

Also some of our pup pals here on dogster were finalists this year (Yay Banana Dogs!!!!) so we're really happy for them. They are posting winners today on the PetSmart site.

Our local news station, WNEP TV, showed our Oktoberfest photo on the air last Friday! They talked about how we won last year and that Oktoberfest was our theme this year. We're still famous.

Mommy & daddy hosted a halloween party this weekend. People were dressed up in costumes, I REALLY didn't like it. I barked and growled at alot of them. I hope they never come to my house again.

WELL..... I guess that's more than enough from me today. Hope to catch up with ya'll soon again!!!!
