Arrival Story:
we adopted her from a breeder in southlake tahoe. the breeder was a weirdo and we had never bought a dog before, so we never recived her papers and have tries to track the breeder down as she has moved and whatever else.... so basically, we got ripped off over papers, but we love our dog more than life and don't care. she is our little fur kid!!

Bio:
When P.P. was 16 weeks old, we went over to a friend's house and she (unbeknownst to her mom and dad) ate an entire box of decon. This was the scariest thing we have ever gone through. Decon makes animals bleed out from the inside. She ate it on Sunday night, and started acting funny on Monday. I took her to the vet that afternoon. It wasn't our usual vet and he said that she may have an infection, so he gave her antibiotics and sent us home. By that night, our little baby was so sick, that every time she moved she cried and cried. I also cried and cried because I know that there was something really wrong with her - moms always know.... *l* so at 11:30pm on that Monday we called the emergency line and got our regular vet. We rushed her to the vet's office, where Dr. Cooper (our hero) still had no idea what was wrong. Since we had no inkling that she had even been around decon, we had no information to give dr. cooper to help. He gave her cortisone shots and sent us home for a long night. By noon the next day (Tuesday) she was way worse. By 3pm, she was so sick; she couldn't breathe and was almost dead. I took her back to Dr. Cooper (I was in tears and hysterics) and he did an x-ray on her chest. Her temperature was only 96 degrees, and her x-ray showed very clear signs of internal bleeding. So, within the hour, Piper's grandpa rushed her grandma's dog Lottie (a chocolate lab) to the vet's office. Lottie gave P.P. 60cc of her blood, and we waited. Dogs have blood types just like people do, but there wasn't time to test Lottie's blood..... P.P.'s grandpa could have picked from five other dogs, and he had Lottie at random. The next morning (after being told that there was a 95% chance that piper would die and spending a really long hard night figuring out how we were going to say good-bye to our baby), dr. cooper called and said that he didn't know how, but piper had made it and was eating breakfast and had bit a nurse!! We love her so much - our little miracle baby - and thinking about how a seven pound dog could eat a box of decon, be saved at random by our angel dog Lottie, and live to make her mommy and daddy so happy still makes me cry!!

a pug's life

a sister for me, piper penelope... *rolling woogly pug- eyes*

well, momma and dad said, "piper, you're a big sister!" and i wanted to say, "gee, thanks - but i think you MEANT to say, 'piper, you are a PRINCESS!'" - i thought i had misunderstood... i am becoming less and less sure that i misunderstood as these days pass by.

they brought me home this little brown pip-squeak named sawyer on friday afternoon and i am told she is my little sister - i have also been informed that i should not call her a pipsqueak becasue she is a lab and will soon be bigger than me... clearly no one informed THEM that NO ONE is bigger than me, piper penelope!!

it isn't that i dislike her, it is that i am concerned that the parents will give that little dog some cookies that are mine (as all cookies are) or some toys that are mine (as all toys are) or something else equally horrific...

there is however, because i am such a great pug, i have been trying to help my mom out with the baby. i am so wonderful, aren't i?? here is how i help my mom:

1. sawyer eats dinner in her crate, and let me tell you - se is NOT dainty. she doesn't know about sucking up every single bit of her food (as not to leave a mess, you know) like me, piper penelope. so i like going in there and cleaning the mess up after her... you know, i don't want my momma to do it.... it doesn't benefit me in the least.

2. momma bought lots of new toys since there are two dogs here now, so i can hide them or put them where sawyer can't get them... wouldn't want a baby to hurt her little self or ruin some BRAND NEW toys, now would we?? no, of course not! again, this in no way benefits me, piper penelope.

3. i do not want my mom's lap to get too tired from having a baby in it, so i like to beak my sister out of there. i see her in my mom's lap, and my momma is "ooo"ing and "awe"ing... now you may think that this is because that baby is cute or something, but SHE IS NOT (why? 'cause i said so.) so clearly there is only one reason for momma to "ooo" and "awe" and that is that her lap is just exausted by that little brown baby. so i, being the SAINT i am, push sawyer out of momma's lap and give it a rest by sitting there myself. i am wonderful, aren't i??? yes is the answer.

4. my mom says that sometimes dogs can get *gasp* FAT. i, piper penelope, am in no way *gasp* FAT, so i do not know anything about it personally. but i wouldn't want my little sister to get *gasp* FAT, now would i?? of course not! so i like to run around the yard as fast as i can go, too fast for her to keep up, and then i just leave her and she cries. i say, "you dan't want to get *gasp* FAT do you?" and run faster. again, mom says sawyer will soon be bigger than me and i will be sorry. why would i be sorry?? i TRIED to keep that lab from getting *gasp* FAT.

these are just a few of the ways that i help around the house now that i am a big sister..... i am so good at it. so, take it from me, piper penelope, my mom and dad should give me a big sister medal - really...

i got to go to the lake today with my momma and dad, auntie kari, auntie erin, uncle dan and best of all, my cousins the puggles.... they are called lily and josie and we get into all kinds of trouble.... the water was green for the algae, but it was still okay to swim, and i was a swimmerin' pug!! i love swimmerin'... i am still trying to teach the puggles that it is fun, becasue they think it is kinda scary still 'cuz they are still kinda little.... they are not big dogs like me... in fact, i am pretty sure i am part lab when i am at the lake.... i like them bein' little dogs though - momma says i am bossy, but i say i am just makin' sure to keep those puggles in line!!
