Likes:
Issy likes visiting her friends at Laurier Dog Park. However, mostly she lavishes in being adored by her family.

Pet-Peeves:
Issy dislikes being left alone and will not eat her bribes until we come back. Also, she is scared of the heat register when it is on.

Favorite Toy:
Unfortunately, Issy thinks one of our cats is a toy. Anything that can be destroyed, torn up, or tugged.

Favorite Food:
Issy enjoys chicken strips, beef knuckle bones, and most people food.

Favorite Walk:
Issy prefers off leash areas; her favorites are Laurier, then Terwillegar.

Arrival Story:
My fiance and I had just bought a house with a fair sized, fenced yard. I began thinking about gettting a dog as a companion; I also felt we could provide a good home. I have always been a huge supporter of the Edmonton Humane Society (E.H.S.) and knew that when the time came, we would adopt a dog from there. On the last teaching day, June 2004, my fiance surprised me by taking me to the E.H.S. He felt that since this would be my first dog, we should get a puppy. He found 4 month old "Boots" sitting and stepping in her poop inside her cage. What a first impression! She had been surrendered to the E.H.S. by someone who said she had been abandoned by her guardian. We spent some time with her and she seemed happy and sweet. The staff at E.H.S. screened us and allowed us to become her guardians. Adopting Issy was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I relish being Issy's mom. I love her with all my heart and she brings me such limitless joy. I love to spend time with her and can list off her attributes to anyone willing to listen. She requires a lot of attention, but I wouldn't want my life any different. We have spent beautiful days together by the river, witnessed seasons changing, met genuine, life long friends, and had lots of laughs. Please consider adopting an animal and giving it second chance. You may benefit more than you know.

Bio:
Issy is now a happy and energetic 6 1/2 year old pup. Unfortunately, 5 years ago we noticed Issy limping after her daily 2 1/2 hour off leash walks. We went through many appointments, tests, 2 veterinarians, and a specialist in Calgary to diagnose her as having a torn cruciate ligament in her right back leg. Issy underwent a TPLO about 4 months ago. We are nearing the end of her 16 week recovery process and are extremely hopeful that our little girl will once again enjoy her off leash romps without pain. We would like to thank Dr. Stelfox and Dr. Remedios for taking such great care of our baby girl! Nov. 10, 2006- Issy has recovered from her surgery and has returned to the dog park. She is not 100% and we still have to watch her activity level carefully. This is due to the fact that Issy cannot control herself and pretty much goes full tilt in everything she does. Will she never learn? Jan. 22, 2oo7- Issy is recovering from a second TPLO, but this time to her left hind leg. She is very eager to see her doggie friends down at the off leash again this spring. Issy's 4th birthday is coming up soon. I can't believe she has been in our lives 4 years! I love her very much! Nov. 2010- Issy is doing great! She is slowing down and doesn't stir up as much trouble down at the ol' dog park. She still barks though. Oh, how she barks. Oh, how she protests the existence of squirrels!
