Good bye!

Just to let everyone know, Ginger went peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge today, with her Mom and brother by her side, eased on her trip by her favorite vet. She was 16 + years old, and we all decided it was time to let her go and be pain-free and at peace. Her family will always love her, and she will be forever our good dog.

update on me!

Hi everyone. Just wanted to tell you all that for the last year I've been living in my usual apartment, but with my human brother Paul, instead of Mom and the cats. Mom and the cats moved to a condo that has STAIRS to the outside. At the condo I wouldn't be able to just go to the back door and go out into my yard. As I'm going to be 16 this month, am just about blind, and kind of shaky, Mom and my brother felt I'd be much better off staying in the home I've lived in since 1998, where I know my way around, and can just go out to the yard. At first I missed Mom (and I know she misses me), but Paul loves me and takes such very good care of me, I know they made the best decision for me. Besides, here I have my human all to myself. I've been told there are now FOUR cats at Mom's condo! Poor cats have to share their human. BOL!

Here's my Letter to Santa Paws :)

Hi Santa Paws! I have been an exceptionally good doggie this year! I've adjusted to the move to the new apartment, I allow those cats to live here too, and I stay out of the catbox (most of the time). And I continue to be my Mom's shadow and best friend.

Here's what I'd like for Christmas, Santa dear!

1. A winter with NOT a lot of ice and snow!
2. The cats to leave some of their food in their bowls so I can eat it!
3. Some new Nylabones.
4. A new dog bed that the cats stay OUT of!
5. An endless supply of Sam's Yams!
6. Most of all...I'd like all the doggies and kitties who need them to find forever homes!

New Apartment

So Mom and the cats and I have been living downstairs in our really wonderful basement apartment since 11/24. Doesn't look like a basement! It looks like HOME! We're going to like it here!

Thanks to Hazel Lucy and all who "purrrred" for me!

I just want to thank a very special cat over at Catster. Her name is Hazel Lucy and she started and maintains a list of cats (and some dogs) who are "in need of serious purrrring". She put me on the list a couple weeks ago when I went to the vet's to have 7 (!) lumpy-bumpies removed. I had to stay overnight, and then wait several days to get the biopsy results (which were negative, thank dog!). Anyway, all those purrrrs from Hazel Lucy and her friends helped me feel sooooooo much better! Thanks you all, especially you Hazel Lucy!

Strange New Addition to My Yard!

There I was, relaxing in the kitchen, watching Mom put away stuff from Trader Joe's on a lovely Saturday evening. Suddenly there was this loud CRACK, then a noise that sounded like ice and snow falling off the roof. Of course, as it's June in New York, it was NOT ice and snow. Mom and one of the human sisters went to look out the back door. There, all over about a quarter of MY back yard, was this ENORMOUS branch off a tree from the neighbor's yard. Missed the house by a foot or so, but it flattened the bird feeder, and we still can't see the little metal fire pit for all the little branches and leaves piled up. (Ender and I figure it's a good thing we weren't out in the yard when it fell!) So for a little while we have this neat new toy in the yard! We intend to enjoy it while we can! BOL!

Valentine Wishes

A friend at the Bridge

Mom and I got very sad news today. My extra special boy, my sweet Rogikins, went to the Bridge today. We knew he would go soon, he was 17, and he had not been well. But everyone who knew Roger will miss him terribly. He was such a gentleman, and what a sense of humor! He used to send me songs! And wow, did he know how to make a girl feel special, and treasured! Roger will be my special boy forever, for always, and no matter what.
Mom and I know what it's like to lose someone. Daddy 's been gone over 3 years now. We know how it feels. We hope Roger's Mom and Dad can find comfort and peace in memories, and the knowledge that there are lots of people (and dogs!) who understand and care. The cats (Ducky and Gizzie) are purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring for Roger and his family.
And I am picturing Roger at the Bridge, racing through bright sunshine, barking and playing with my dogsister Carly, and catbrother Specky. And maybe meeting my Daddy.
