My girl is gone. After being noticeably sick for a week, my girl is gone. We don't know exactly why. In hindsight, we think it started before the holidays. At the end, I know that she was in pain and that it was centered on the back half of her torso and her back legs. It might have been a return of the cancer. Or it might have been something else. I refused to put her through any more pain, so she's gone.

My heart is broken.

We are so very sorry for your loss. I think knowing we will likely outlive our special companions is the hardest part of being their guardians. I hope time and fond memories will heal your heart.
