Arrival Story:
I wanted a Boston Terrier as a college graduation present two years ago. We already had two dogs, two more than my husband wanted, so he wasn't too keen on adding any more dogs to the family. He kept asking me what I wanted for graduation and I kept saying a Boston baby. He finally caved and within five hours I had located a breeder in a neighboring state with available puppies and we were in the car on a four hour drive to pick up our newest puppy. There were four to choose from, but Bella was the only one with black markings on both eyes and we fell in love with her. My husband actually picked her out and we went through every name you can think of on the four hour drive back home before we decided on Bella, short for Isabella.

Bio:
From the time we picked her out, Bella was my husband's little princess. Even though he resisted getting another dog, she wound herself around his heart and he just absolutely adores her. She's bossy and demanding but also friendly, playful and very loving.

A Day in the Life of Bella

Post-surgery

October 24th 2007 3:10 pm   [link to this entry]

Well, it's been seven weeks since the surgery and I'm still recovering. Momma says I had a luxating patella, and that's why the doctor operated on my knee and put in two steel pins. Momma won't let me play with my squeeky and it's making me very unhappy, especially when I see Putter, Kalli and Lily playing and running. At least I don't have to sleep in the crate all by myself any more!

Momma keeps saying just two more weeks, two more weeks. I'm not sure what that means, but it sure seems a long, long time away. I'm so sad I can't run and chase the squirrels with Lily like we did all summer. Now Kalli chases them with her, and that's just not fair. ;(

But Momma says she's so proud of me and gives me lots of attention and cuddle time. She says she can't wait to take me for a long run and that we'll find lots of squirrels that I can chase, maybe even some low-flying geese! But it's finally getting cold, so Momma will make me wear that silly red jacket that Daddy makes fun of. But it does keep me warm! I just can't wait to chase Kalli and Lily and the squirrels. And to play tug with Putter 'cause she always lets me win....

Daddy took me, Putter and Lily for a walk on the golf course in the snow. Momma made us wear our red jackets because it's cold and wet outside. Daddy thinks they're silly looking, but I'm glad I had on mine because it kept me warm and dry. We walked 1.3 miles, and then Daddy had to call Momma on his cell phone because he couldn't find Putter. Putter got scared, and ran all the way back home all by herself. Then Daddy got scared because he couldn't find Putter. But she was sitting in the garage by the back door waiting on Momma to open the door. We're just happy she got home safely. Goofy girl.

Now I'm in my favorite spot, nestled as close as I can get to Momma on the couch. She's got that square thing sitting on her lap again. It's there a lot and gets in my way. It takes a lot of attention away from us, and then we jump on top of her and make her put it away for play time.

It's been a fun day. We went back out in the snow to feed the birds and chase the squirrels. Lily and I love chasing squirrels. Lily is so silly, she sits at the bottom of the tree and looks up waiting for them to come back down to play. Sometimes they do, but I've got better things to do with my time than to sit and wait. It's more fun to chase my squeeky and play tug.

It's nap time. Bye for now. Love, Bella
