Quick Bio:
-purebred-pound dog

Birthday:
June 17th 1997

Likes:
He lives to harass cats, even his own family members. Otherwise, smoked cow ears & hooves; carrots; basically food of any sort. The Rex loves to be groomed: brushing, bathing, any kind of extra attention.

Pet-Peeves:
Tail pulling; blowing in his ears; making noises like "OOOOOOOOOOO" He starts yelping...very comical!

Favorite Toy:
Things to chew on and things that squeak.

Favorite Food:
Anything that is potentially food is fair game. They really like it when they get popcorn or carrots.

Favorite Walk:
Around the neighborhood, but mostly to the food bowl.

Best Tricks:
The Rexter does not do tricks, sorry. Well, he does do the yodelling thing when prompted.

Arrival Story:
I was doing dog food demos at Petsmart when they had adoption week. I had two cats already, and hadn't had dogs since I was a kid. Well, I saw Rex being offered by the Houston Humane Society. I said to myself, if he's still available by the time my shift is over, I'll apply for him. I still can't believe nobody else wanted him.

Bio:
Since Rex' first time throwing out his back, he rehabbed, threw his back out a second time, rehabbed again (though that took almost a year), and threw his back out a third time. Because we were gone for an extended time and he did not receive his Rexercises and therapy right away (plus by now, he was almost fifteen), recuperation from this injury was unlikely. His condition worsened and I knew it would not get better. We had Rex sent on his final recon mission. Well, Rex is almost 13 and a half now. He recently threw his back out and couldn't move his rear legs. Dad built him a wheeled chair from PVC pipe, very ingenious, so Rex has mobility. We do exercises every night and he has gotten a lot stronger! He gets himself out of his chair and walks around the house a little, not very elegantly, but it works. I hope that he can make more progress, but know that he will never be his same old self again. And it appears he is getting cataracts, too. Old age sucks!! Rex is almost nine now...I can't believe it. I've never thought of my kids as old. When I came back from Iraq in December05, my baby boy had grey hair on his front paws!

Forums Motto:
I never met a cat I didn't love to hate.
