Arrival Story:
My chuhauha Misty was stolen from my yard and I went to the pound to see if she had been turned in there and to look at other dogs there. I had in mind a small, shorthaired, non shedding dog. haha. Came home with my baby, Smokey. A constant shedding, fluffy coat, large Norweign Elkhound. She's the love of my life.

Bio:
She has arthritis now and has to put up with my other two dogs, but she is a loving precious part of my family. I thank God I she found me at the pound. She sat there so pretty and calm while all the other dogs were barking and jumping. She loved my grand daughter and that was all it took.

Smokey Girl has been with me for 9 years this December. She has been the best dog ever and has put up with me bringing other dogs into our home, both to stay and for me to foster. She has been so patient with the new dogs and now that I foster for Norwegian Elkhounds, she has shown just how great a Mom she would have made. She does so well, teaching the new fosters manners and helping them learn what is acceptable behavior. She has tolerated them taking her toys, trying to play with her and she has even let them lay under my bed, which has always been her spot. She is such a great member of my family and #1 in my eyes. Smokey will soon be having surgery and won't be feeling too well for a while, both from the surgery and her arthritis. She is having an episioplasty and 3 growths removed. Two growths we think are cysts, but the third one we aren't sure of and will have to wait for the biopsy to come back to know for sure what it is. One thing that won't make her very happy will be the elizabethan collar she will have to wear for a while and the fact she will have to be crated or gated away from the other dogs while she heals. Little Bit will lick Smokey's sores if I don't keep them separated and Sundance is so big he might accidentally hurt her incision areas trying to play with her. I am changing my sleep area to be in the room with her so she won't feel so alone, especially during storms, which do frighten her. I dread the wait for the biopsy to come back. She is my heart dog and is the best dog anyone could ever have.
