It's Not Easy Being a Princess

Whine and Dine

I don't know what it's like to sleep in. Every morning I'm awake between 7:00 and 7:30. If Amanda is still in bed I like to stare at her and whine until she gets up. She knows that about an hour before it's time for breakfast I start to get antsy.

But I'm a stinker and once she's up I take a nap before I actually get to eat!

Sucker for Softness

Andrew and Amanda laugh at me but I love soft things. I'll do all that I can to sneak up on the couch where I shouldn't be. Magazines are put up there to keep me down but sometimes they forget so I can sleep up there when we're left alone. I also try and sneak up on Andrew and Amanda's bed but I'm not as successful at that operation.

I also love soft, plush toys. We usually get harder toys to chew on because we're labs afterall. But since we've grown out of our constant chewing phase we'll sometimes get to play with softer toys.

It's really fun when we have foster dogs in the house. The softer toys are often put out for the puppies we take care of. So I try and steal them for myself as much as possible. I will share and play with them with the foster puppies at times though.

New Year, New Adventures

It's already the middle of February and I've had a busy year. The first few weeks in January Beacon and I had foster dogs living with us. The first was Buttercup. She was a yellow lab mix, around four months old. She was a crazy thing. I thought I had energy! There were times when I'd want to just rest and she would jump on my back trying to get me to play.

Next came Tinker, a boxer mix. She was really small. She liked to bark when she played. I liked chasing her under the couch in the living room. She would bark at me. I would bark at her.

We had a little time off and then Jack stayed with us for a little over a week. He was really shy when he first arrived. But eventually he warmed up and tried to play with us. I didn't mind playing with him. Amanda bought some new toys so I had fun trying my best to be in control of as many as I could. I did share when I had to though.

Shortly after Jack was adopted I got sick with kennel cough. He didn't have any symptoms but that's where I got it from. I was generous and decided to give it to Beacon as well. I'm finally getting over it and feeling like myself again. It has been hard not being as active as I'm used to. I've missed running around in the yard and going on runs with Andrew.

Year in Review

It has been a long time since this has been updated. Maybe in 2006 I'll be better at it.

I've had a pretty busy year. The highlight was running a 5k with Andrew. I took him out pretty fast, but I was excited and couldn't help it. We came in 10th overall. And we got 1st place in Andrew's age bracket. But, shhh, don't tell anyone he was the only one running in that group.

I got to see lots of dogs and brought home some treats as well. I was nice and shared with Beacon. Maybe next year Amanda will decide to run with him.

Last month my picture was my calendar girl month. Andrew and Amanda got to look at my picture all month on the Humane Society calendar.

In July we went on vacation to a cabin on Kentucky Lake with Andrew, Amanda and our grandparents (Amanda's parents). We got to swim in the lake quite a bit.

I hope I get better about updating what has been going on in my life.

About a month ago I found out that I'm going to be Miss November in the Humane Society's 2005 calendar. Beacon will also be in the calendar but not as pet of the month.
