Likes: sleeping, cuddling and sharing stawberry popsicles (sugar-free, of course), and having his own website (reustielechien.textamerica.com)
Pet-Peeves: going to the vet for a shot or having his faced washed after eating Frosty Paws.
Favorite Toy: his pillow or his fuzzy bear (both tied for #1) followed by his stuffed carrot, toy elephant, and fuzzy frisbee
Favorite Food: strawberries and bananas are tied for #1, blueberries and rasberries are ties for #2, followed by just about any other fruit, sugar-free popsicles, and tiny pieces of ice (during the summer after a long walk)
Favorite Walk: used to be his girlfriend's house (Georgia, an 11-year old purebred mini schnauzer that moved here from California a few years ago), but she went to doggie Heaven in May 2005. Now, he's content to visit his new best friend, Freddy (a Shih-Tzu) next door.
Best Tricks: He knows the names of each of his 20+ toys and can retrieve them (even when hidden)
Arrival Story: I rescured him from a pet store. He was quiet and shy and his eyes won me over. As soon as I got home with him, he showed me how quiet he wasn't. But it was too late, I was in love. He's been a part of the family for eight years now.
Bio: His parents were both champion show dogs.
Forums Motto: snuggle monster
I've Been On Dogster Since:
My best buddy and cuddle monster, Reustie, was sent to puppydog heaven February 24, 2007. It was a very difficult decision to make but he had been battling several health issues. He was diagnosed with inoperable bladder cancer in October 2006. Along with the diagnosis, the vet told us that Reustie has several organs that were failing, including his liver and gall bladder. Two years before the cancer diagnosis, Reustie was diagnosed with lupus and has been on meds for it since then...
Between the three meds for the lupus and the pain medication to keep him comfortable upon receiving the cancer diagnosis, he just was never the same. You could see that his quality of life was slowly deteriorating. The most loving gift I could give him was the gift of peace.
Reustie would have been 11 years old on March 25, 2007. I know that he's in a better place now, playing with his half-sister, Natasha, and his other buddies who have gone to puppydog heaven prior to his arrival.
