Arrival Story:
Tobie was rescued from a puppymill and he is my foster dog. He really would love a home of his own, but he has some special requirements. Someday I know his special home will appear. Tobie has found his special home! He is being adopted and will live in New Mexico. He is going to love the weather. No more nasty Michigan winters. Horray for Tobie!

Bio:
Tobie is a very affectionate and sweet 5 year old with the cutest button ears. This handsome red and white pied 18 pound (he could lose a bit!) boy came into rescue from a Puppymill and so missed out on the very important socialization that occurs during puppyhood. Despite this, he has adapted well to living in real home. He sleeps on his bed on the floor next to his foster mom's bed at night. He's easy to walk, won't jump on furniture and doesn't have a super high energy level. One of Tobie's favorite pastimes is to look adoringly at his 2 legged guardian and get scratches and be loved on, but he doesn't like to be held too tightly or cornered. Open a car door and he hops right in as he loves to go for rides in the car; safely in his crate of course. He walks pretty good a leash and does like to go places. Additional socialization would help ease his anxiety and he is good going to the Pet Store or other places where dogs are allowed. Since he had such a hard start in life he is fearful of change and new situations and his forever home must be able to recognize his signals and take the appropriate action. Quick moves can frighten him and a raised voice will cause him to cower. Due this special needs, his forever home needs to be one without children, one that is relatively quiet and has prior experience with dogs. He gets along fine with his foster siblings and has gotten along with cats in the past. He loves to explore outside in the fenced yard at his foster home and has a definite prey drive. It takes him time to warm up to strangers, but once you are 'in' he is the most loyal dog imaginable.
