Well, I did it. I got to ride my first big wave...no, I didn't get to surf per se, but I did get to swim in the ocean and this was a totally new and awesome experience for me.
When my people told me to jump in the car I just assumed we were going for a quick drive to Safeway or maybe even heading to Mega Dogs, but we just kept driving. We drove and we drove and we stopped when I needed to pee, and then we kept driving some more. It seemed like it was a long drive from Seattle to Cannon Beach, OR but I have to say it was well worth it.
At first it was a little strange in this new house, but you should have seen the size of the backyard. It was HUGE! I just ran and ran and ran some more, attacking a few plants and butterflies while I was at it. Then I saw the early signs of a hole that someone else must have tried to dig and I just went for it. This place was great, but the shrubs that lay at the other side of the fence looked too enticing to resist. Just when I thought I was getting close to my exit 'they' turned up. Yeh, my pesky owners seem to have a built in radar that detects when I am having too much fun. Of course, they blocked the hole I was digging, and dragged me in sidebut then we went for a walk, which was way more exciting.
We made it to the sand dunes and then all I could see was a really huge swimming pool. It stretched as far as my eyes could see. It was amazing and I wanted to swim in it. My people wouldn't get rid of that pesky lead, but they did put me on a 30ft lead which meant I could go crazy! My owners kept whining about how cold the water was but that didn't stop me from swimming jumping and splashing for hours. It was awesome!
It was getting late so my people 'dragged' me out of the water. Ok, so I admit that I was a little hesitant to leave especially since I was having so much fun. But after arriving home, having a quick bath and chomping down my favorite meal of Darwins, I was ready for a nap. Actually, I realized that I was totally wiped out and all I wanted to do was sleep (and dream about the ocean) - which I did.

I love to swim but after dealing with a couple of nasty pooches at an off leash swimming hole at Magnuson Park, my owners felt my doggy swim sessions were over. What do you mean my dog swim days are over? They wouldn't listen to me and kept saying it wasn't safe because too many irresponsible owners visit off leash parks. So life was boring...But that was until I found out about Mega-Dogs (http://www.mega-dogs.com/pool.htm) in Woodinville, WA. The owner Karen is really great and took me through our first session as I was just a little nervous, but after 4 sessions I am now an Olympic swimmer! Hey, my people even try to outswim me but when they feel my nails down their back they know that am on their heels. Yep, I really am the fastest swimmer around.
I have a awesome time with my owners and me swimming around, playing fetch and playing chase for an hour in the water. Yep, an hour with the pool all to ourselves. Of course, it costs money but that's no concern of mine. I just love it! At first I may have been a little afraid of getting in by myself so I would make my people get out of the pool after every lap, grab me by the handle on my life jacket and lead me back into the pool - but now I just leap in. Yes, and did I mention that I get to wear a really cool red life jacket? I just love it.
All I can say is that I can't wait to get back to the pool because Mega - Dogs is a huge dose of Mega fun and I want more! more! more!

It may have seemed like we were world's apart but in fact the only thing that was standing in our way was the 6ft fence separating us...and my owners who will not let us be together all the time.
I still remember the day we finally got to meet....my owners were talking to the girl who is always with Blue and then they came inside to get me. Yippee we are going for another walk - I thought. But when I went outside I was greeted by this handsome golden lab. It was my Blue and it was certainly love at first sight! We played and bounced around on the front lawn for awhile though it was a little difficult as they wouldn't take my lead off so we kept getting tangled up. Then you wouldn't believe what happened - I went into Blue's back yard and got to play for ages and ages. Of course, he is a little overweight and isn't quite as fast as me, but he will get fitter over time. My owners came to get me and kept saying something about 'it has been 2 hours and you must be tired and hungry'. Gee, I don't speak their language - why don't they just bark like me and Blue - then I might understand them. All I do know is that by the time I walked inside I was exhausted....and totally famished.
We have been inseparable ever since...well, not really, our owners continue to get in the way of our love. So everytime I get a chance to go outside I will jump up on the deck and look for my 'Blue' and if he is outside he will bark and it doesn't matter where I am, I will run straight to the nearest soI can see him gazing at me.
I really wish I could move in with him but there ain't no way that my owners will let that happen. I admit that they let me go over to play with him once a week....oh maybe it is more than that. Ok, so it is more like 4-5 days per week but it is never enough. I swear I think my owners must have some sort of separation anxiety cos when I am with Blue they just stand on the deck staring at us over the fence. They really are the strangest people those two, but I do love them and maybe if I am lucky they will let me play with Blue again tonight?
