Favorite Walk: Off-leash through the woods and down to Grandma's house.
Best Tricks: Snoring louder than a human and playing deaf
Arrival Story: Shelbi was the first dog for our family. She is a true Lab...with an ideal disposition as she is eager to please, kind, gentle, intelligent, a wonderful girl. We bought her at a pet store (what can I say we were young) where they had the entire litter of pups all together in one kennel. We fell in love with her after the way she looked at us. Months later, the AKC ended up revoking her papers, after someone complained that one of the pups they bought from the litter had wavy hair. The pet store said that we could bring her back (she was then 9 months old) and they would give us another "AKC" puppy. What were they crazy? No way were we giving her back just because she didn't have papers anymore-who cares about their papers-she was part of our family now. So, we told the pet store that instead of "replacing" her, they could refund us half of the purchase price, which they gladly did. After that, we decided we'd never purchase a puppy from a pet store again-and we didn't.
Bio: She is such an amazing girl, despite loosing her two brothers to cancer she remained strong. At the age of 13, she welcomed her newly adopted brother, Kasey, into the family and is currently showing him the ropes. She is definitely frustrated that her back legs don't work like they used to and she can't go on marathon walks anymore.
Our sweet girl Shelbi passed away today, Friday, March 28, 2008, and will be remembered forever. May she rest in peace with her angel brothers at the Bridge now. We love you girl!

I am here at work and I was just ready "Annie's Mailbox" in yesterday's newspaper. A person that recenlty lost their pet wrote in to Dear Annie and asked if they would ever see their pet again because every religion seems to have a different answer. Dear Annie responded with sharing one of her favorite essays to provide some comfort entitled Do Dogs Go To Heaven? by the Rev. Dale Turner (1917-2006). In that Rev. Turner shares a poem that was given to him by a parishioner and now I want to share that poem with all of you here on Dogster. So, here it is:
I explained to St. Peter,
I'd rather stay here,
Outside the pearly gate.
I won't be a nuisance,
I won't even bark,
I'll be very patient and wait.
I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,
No matter how long you may be.
I'd miss you so much, if I went in alone,
It wouldn't be heaven for me.
This appeared in my local newspaper exactly one week after Shelbi passed. I truly believe she is there waiting for us now! RIP girl. We love you!
I've been tagged Caliber.........Now Mom is finally making a Diary for me! Thanks Callie!
Here are the rules of the game!
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
1. Mom and Dad named me Shelbi because that was the baby name for a girl that they had picked out way back in 1989 when Mom was pregnant (she had a boy so, they saved that name for me)!
2. Toys are not for me! I don't like to play with them and I think crazy Kasey is obsessed with them.
3. I love to bark! I do it for attention and when Kasey bothers me!
4. Since I can't get up on the couch anymore, I love to lay in bed! I'm so lazy.
5. I follow my Mom EVERYWHERE!
6. I STILL love my baby pool, it my favorite place to hange when its hot.
7. I hate when Mom leaves in her car without me, I still love to go for rides.
